In this role, you will have the opportunity to contribute to ABB’s success with technology, software, product, and system development. Each day, you will identify and implement innovative solutions to relevant problems. You will also showcase your expertise by providing ideas and by being able to work both independently and as a part of a Research & Development (R&D) team.
The work model for the role is: Onsite in Bartlesville, OK. #LI-Onsite

Your role and responsibilities: 

• Design, develop, test, and maintain embedded software for microcontrollers and Linux-based products.
• Implement and troubleshoot firmware, device interfaces, and communication protocols.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable product features.
• Support software verification, debugging, and continuous product improvement.
• Maintain existing software and test infrastructure.
• Align with assigned lead (time, cost, quality) and complete project deliverables.
• Demonstrate sound understanding and usages of R&D processes and tools.

Qualifications for the role: 

Required

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related discipline
• 1-3 years of embedded software development experience through industry, internships, or academic projects
• Proficiency in C/C++ programming
• Understanding of embedded systems, microcontrollers, and real-time
• software concepts.
• Candidates must already have work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US permanently.

Preferred

• Experience with Python scripting
• Exposure to ARM Cortex-M/Cortex-A platforms (STM32,NXP, Renesas, or similar).
• Exposure to FreeRTOS, Yocto, Buildroot, or cross-compilation toolchains.
• Experience with common communication protocols such as UART, SPI, I2C,CAN, Ethernet, or TCP/IP.
• Familiarity with embedded debugging tools such as JTAG, GDB,oscilloscopes, or logic analyzers.
• Experience using source control systems such as Git.
