Job Description:Position OverviewWe are seeking a Staff/Principal R&D Software Engineer (ICB5) to serve as a technical architect and hands-on leader in redefining how enterprise software is built, orchestrated, and delivered using Agentic AI.
In this individual contributor leadership role, you will design, build, and deploy high-impact AI systems and platforms that unify Product Portfolio Management (PPM/SPM), Agile Planning, Engineering Execution, and DevOps into an autonomous operating engine. Working at the intersection of AI/ML, distributed systems, and software engineering productivity, you will partner closely with Engineering, Product, and R&D Leadership to architect scalable Agentic AI workflows, modernize technical delivery platforms, and optimize the ValueOps portfolio.
The ideal candidate combines deep software engineering expertise in distributed systems and AI platform development with a systems-thinking approach to software delivery pipelines, Lean Portfolio Management, and developer productivity.
What You'll DoArchitect & Build AI-Powered Delivery PlatformsDesign, build, and scale Agentic AI systems, LLM pipelines, and autonomous agents integrated directly into R&D, product management, and engineering workflows.
Engine-level development for AI-driven business case generation, automated backlog grooming, capacity modeling, and predictive portfolio risk analysis.
Transform manual project and product management processes into event-driven, autonomous software workflows using modern agentic frameworks.
Partner with Platform Engineering, DevOps, and Security teams to embed AI copilot patterns, CI/CD telemetry, and Value Stream Management engines into standard developer workflows.
Architect real-time operational telemetry engines and executive dashboards by aggregating data from across modern developer toolchains (e.g., git, CI/CD pipelines, issue trackers, deployment platforms).
Eliminate friction in software execution through intelligent automation, automated static/dynamic analysis integration, and self-healing deployment pipelines.
Function as the principal technical authority across cross-functional R&D initiatives, leading technical designs, RFCs, and architecture reviews.
Manage complex technical dependencies, system interfaces, and API contracts across core product, cloud infrastructure, and security platforms.
Define and maintain technical benchmarks for system reliability, latency, cost-efficiency, and privacy for deployed Agentic AI models.
Drive technical adoption of AI engineering practices across global R&D teams.
Mentor senior and staff engineers in agentic architectures, prompt/context engineering, graph databases, and resilient system design.
Champion a culture of high engineering standards, continuous integration, data-driven decision-making, and open technical discourse.
Experience : Bachelors and 12+ years of related experience; at this level a post-graduate degree is typically expected or Masters degree and 10+ years of related experience or PhD and 7+ years of related experience
10+ years of professional software engineering experience building complex, distributed backend systems, enterprise platforms, or developer tools.
3+ years in a technical leadership capacity (Staff/Principal Engineer or equivalent IC level) driving cross-organization architecture initiatives.
Strong proficiency in modern enterprise programming languages (e.g., Python, Go, Java, TypeScript/Node.js).
Hands-on experience developing, fine-tuning, or deploying Generative AI, Agentic AI, or LLM-based architectures (e.g., LangChain, LlamaIndex, AutoGen, Semantic Kernel, custom multi-agent orchestrations).
Deep technical understanding of Software Portfolio Management (SPM), Agile delivery engines, and DevOps toolchains (e.g., Jira APIs, GitHub/GitLab, Azure DevOps, Jenkins/GitHub Actions).
Proven track record of architecting event-driven systems, RESTful/gRPC APIs, and scalable data pipelines.
Exceptional technical communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex architectural decisions to both technical peers and executive leadership.
Strong understanding of ValueOps concepts: Lean Portfolio Management, Value Stream Management (VSM), OKR tracking systems, and financial capacity modeling.
Experience with graph databases (e.g., Neo4j), vector stores (e.g., Pinecone, Milvus, Qdrant), and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) pattern optimization.
Background in cloud-native platform engineering (Kubernetes, AWS/GCP/Azure serverless architectures, Terraform).
Experience building or customizing software planning tools (Clarity, Rally, ServiceNow SPM, Planview).
B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related quantitative field.
Architectural Visionary: Able to translate high-level business goals into clean, resilient, and extensible software architectures.
Engineering Force Multiplier: Elevates the technical capability of surrounding engineering teams through code reviews, design docs, and hands-on implementation.
Data-Driven & Systems Minded: Analyzes engineering metrics (lead time, deployment frequency, MTTR) to systematically identify and automate away execution bottlenecks.
Pragmatic Innovator: Balances cutting-edge AI experimentation with enterprise-grade stability, security, and scalability requirements.
Within the first 12 months, this technical leader will:
Architect & Deploy Agentic Workflows: Deliver production-ready Agentic AI modules that automate key planning, tracking, and prioritization tasks across R&D teams.
Standardize AI Engine Integration: Establish a reusable technical framework and API layer for embedding AI agents into existing ValueOps and developer toolchains.
Drive Productivity Metrics: Achieve a measurable improvement in R&D velocity, lead time, and planning overhead through automated intelligence and system integration.
Elevate Technical Capability: Author key architecture blueprints and mentor R&D teams on best practices for building scalable, reliable AI-driven enterprise applications.
