We are looking for an experienced Embedded Software Developer to own the end-to-end development of next-generation products, working in close collaboration with hardware teams and cross-functional stakeholders to deliver high-quality and reliable products at ABB Global Industries and Services Private Limited (GISPL).
The work model for the role is: #LI-Hybrid
This role is contributing to the Motion Drive Product Division in Bangalore.
You will be mainly accountable for:
- Understanding the existing portfolio, get customer requirements, plan and execute end-to-end development of new products at various layers of its architecture. Collaborating with global / local R&D and product management teams to develop world class products.
- Demonstrate solid competency in embedded C/C++ programming and design concepts. Design, develop, and maintain software for variable frequency drive control systems.
- Strong collaboration within R&D community and alignment with agile software development principles. Contributing to firmware releases, including development, testing, validation, documentation and release.
- Ensuring quality, reliability, and compliance of deliverables with ABB processes and standards.
- Demonstrate strong commitment to quality culture in ABB R&D. Mindset to take risk, share success and failures in the team.
- Mindset towards innovative thinking and challenging the current situations. Providing technical guidance and support to internal stakeholders and customers

Qualifications for the role :
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical / Electronics Engineering or a related field, with 7–10 years of strong hands-on expertise in Embedded C and Embedded C++, with working knowledge of Python for embedded system development and testing.
Proven experience with communication protocols such as I2C, SPI, UART/USART, along with real-world product development exposure.
In-depth knowledge of MCU peripherals including ADC, DAC, DMA, Timers, Flash, and GPIO.
Experience using debugging tools, and performing hardware-software integration and troubleshooting.
Ability to design modular, scalable, and maintainable embedded software, adhering to coding standards and cybersecurity best practices.
Experience working in cross-functional environments, collaborating with hardware teams, QA, and product management for end-to-end delivery.
Exposure to industrial automation and VFD technologies, with knowledge of industrial communication protocols such as Modbus, and other Ethernet based protocols. Know-how of FPGA related developments is an added opportunity.
Excellent technical communication and stakeholder management skills, with a proactive, self-driven, and result-oriented approach.
