The candidate will be responsible for leading and executing process research and development (R&D) activities for developing and optimizing enzymatic ligation and downstream processes at the lab scale for tech transfer to large-scale oligonucleotide production. Emphasis is on hands-on practical experience and expertise with a deep understanding of chemical/biochemical process and assay development and a strong background in purification and analytical techniques.
Essential duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Responsible for scientific and technical leadership of oligonucleotide process research and development focusing on enzymatic ligation technology
Design and conduct laboratory scale experiments in a safe and effective manner with expertise in operating lab-scale chemical/biochemical process and analytical instruments.
Accountable for planning, directing, and execution of technical work in developing and optimizing enzymatic ligation and downstream processes including ultrafiltration, diafiltration, and chromatography
Responsible for analysis and reporting of specific data and presenting technical summaries in business settings
Act as a liaison between laboratory and plant, facilitating the efficient development, tech-transfer, and implementation of oligonucleotide processes
Maintain process compliance integrity by adhering to standard operating procedures (SOP’s) and current good manufacturing practices (cGMP) as appropriate
Required:
Master’s Degree in chemistry, biochemistry, chemical engineering, biochemical engineering or related science discipline with five years of experience post-Masters in pharmaceutical process R&D
Knowledge of enzymatic manipulation of DNA/RNA and biocatalysts
Desired:
Ph.D. with two years of industrial experience preferred
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to lead and manage R&D projects
Knowledge and experience in oligonucleotide process R&D, specifically with enzymatic ligation and downstream purification
Strong communication skills and experience presenting technical summaries in business settings
Strong desire and positive attitude to work in multi-disciplinary teams

This job has a full time weekly schedule. Applications for this job will be accepted until at least May 15, 2026 or until the job is no longer posted.The full-time equivalent pay range for this position is $127,680.00 - $199,500.00/yr plus eligibility for bonus, stock and benefits. Our pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
