For our RUBBER BUSINESS and AMMEGA Research and Development team, we are currently looking for a/an 


R&D MANAGER (rubber business)


As a R&D MANAGER, you will be responsible for all activities to ensure the success of the product lines and marketing strategies, define a roadmap for product development by identifying opportunities for improving the growth trajectory of product lines and recommending new product development, manage P&L for product lines and ensuring actions are taken to maintain as much profit as possible with the given product line. You will report to the Rubber Product Line Manager. For this role, you will be based in Vilanova i la Geltrú, Barcelona (Spain). The position has responsibility for China and India and will require regular travel to both countries.


A day in the life of a R&D MANAGER can look like

  • Define and execute the mid‑ and long‑term Global R&D strategy aligned with corporate and commercial objectives.
  • Lead and develop the R&D team (product engineering, materials, laboratory and testing).
  • Drive new product development and continuous improvement of rubber power transmission belts worldwide.
  • Research, develop and validate rubber compounds, reinforcements and surface treatments.
  • Improve product performance (durability, energy efficiency, noise, vibration, thermal and chemical resistance).
  • Optimize materials, designs and processes to support cost reduction and efficiency improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with technical standards, regulations and customer requirements.
  • Define and oversee product testing, validation and homologation activities.
  • Manage R&D budget, priorities and resource allocation.
  • Collaborate with Production, Quality, Engineering, Purchasing and Sales to ensure industrialization and market success.
  • Support customer technical needs and product troubleshooting.
  • Work with Quality and Technical Area/ Engineering to resolve product issues and ensure product reliability.
  • Contribute to sustainability initiatives and cost optimization. Promote sustainable product and material solutions, including recyclability, reduced carbon footprint and regulatory compliance.
  • Monitor technology and market trends and foster collaboration with suppliers and external partners.
  • Act as a role model in Health & Safety and Environmental practices within the technical organization.

We are looking for you to have

  • Engineering degree (Industrial, Chemical, Materials or similar).
  • 5+ years experience in industrial R&D, preferably in rubber or elastomer products.
  • Proven experience managing technical teams and projects.
  • Strong knowledge of materials, manufacturing processes and testing.
  • Leadership, analytical mindset and business orientation.
  • Availability to travel, nationally and internationally
  • Awareness and commitment to Occupational Health & Safety and Environmental principles in an industrial environment.
  • Strong organization and time management skills required. 
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and agendas simultaneously expected
  • Strong team leadership, team building and facilitation skills
  • Fluent in Spanish and English

Skills Required
