Haigh-Farr is seeking an experienced R&D Machinist with a strong commitment to achieving quality work on scheduled timelines. The ideal candidate will maintain a high level of expertise and professionalism when working closely with others within the department and company to understand requirements and meet customer expectations.

Requirements

Responsibilities:

  • Working hand and hand with engineering for R&D work.
  • Properly manufacture fixtures to accommodate new products.
  • Setup and operation of 2,3,4 axis Vertical CNC Knee and Bed Milling Machines.
  • Setup and operation of manual lathes.
  • Prove out new CNC programs and troubleshoot potential issues.
  • Repair and troubleshoot issues with existing fixtures.
  • Manual machining both hard and soft materials as well as odd shaped parts. 

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Ability to properly and safely set up/run machine shop equipment is a must.
  • Attention to detail at the highest level is required.
  • Proper knowledge of feeds and speeds and proper tooling selection is required.
  • The understanding of G and M code with the ability to manually write and edit CNC programs is desired.
  • Experience in working from prints required.
  • Strong shop math skills and excellent mechanical aptitude desired.
  • Strong hand eye coordination and manual dexterity.
  • Ability to switch tasks on the fly as production needs require.
  • Strong commitment to achieving quality work.
  • Team player who will pitch in where needed to get the job done.
  • Meticulous record keeping with good computer skills.
  • Must be organized and maintain a clean working environment. 

Qualifications:

  • Minimum High School Diploma or GED, higher education a plus
  • 5+ years Machinist experience
  • U.S. citizenship required, with ability to possess a security clearance
