R&D Lead / Software Architect (On-Site Batam)

IBMC is assisting a client in hiring a critical technical leader. Our client is the first enterprise-class hardware manufacturer in the UAE & GCC region, dedicated to designing, developing, customizing, manufacturing, and deploying datacenter-grade, globally competitive technology and Intellectual Property (IP). Powering technological sovereignty and strategic enterprise initiatives, they are expanding their global footprint and establishing a new operational facility in Batam, Indonesia.

We are seeking a highly strategic, forward-thinking, and hands-on R&D Lead / Software Architect to head their software engineering and research initiatives. Initially working closely with global leadership, this role will transition to a permanent on-site position in Batam. This is a critical, relationship- and technical-driven hire that beautifully blends high-level system architecture with rigorous local product execution. Your goal is to lead the design of robust software systems while directly driving proprietary IP development that aligns with our client's global technological vision.

• Architectural Leadership: Design, define, and implement high-level software architectures spanning firmware, embedded systems, and server-side software for datacenter-grade hardware products.
• R&D & IP Development: Lead the research and development phase of new software products from concept to prototype, driving core innovation and securing proprietary Intellectual Property (IP).
• Global Technical Liaison: Coordinate and align local R&D roadmaps directly with the overseas corporate technology team, translating high-level global requirements into actionable local development pipelines.
• Governance & Quality Assurance: Establish strict coding standards, conduct thorough architectural reviews, and champion engineering best practices to ensure scalable, secure, and reliable systems.
• Batam Site Readiness: Assist in preparing the software engineering division for the upcoming on-site facility launch in Batam, mentoring local engineering talent as the team scales.

• Education: Bachelor’s degree (S1) or Master's degree (S2) in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related technical field.
• Experience: Minimum of 5 years of professional software development experience, with a proven track record in firmware, embedded systems, or enterprise server software architecture.
• Communication Mastery: Exceptional professional written and verbal English skills with a high degree of cultural intelligence, capable of seamlessly liaising with Middle Eastern executive stakeholders.
• Mobility & Presence: Must have a valid passport and full readiness for overseas business travel and technical training. Commitment to transitioning to a permanent, on-site setup in Batam, Indonesia is mandatory.
• IP Familiarity: Prior experience or deep understanding of developing proprietary software mechanisms and managing technical IP documentation.

• Prior experience working within enterprise hardware, datacenter technology, or cloud infrastructure sectors.
• Familiarity with cross-border team collaboration, particularly between Southeast Asia and the Middle East.
• Established understanding of manufacturing-adjacent software systems or hardware-software integration testing.
