About the Job:
In this role, you will work in our NYC lab to support all experiments. The successful candidate will be a hands-on, motivated self-starter with a strong sense of initiative.
You are someone who is ambitious and would like to start a career in the biotech industry. Your role will be lab oriented, fast-paced and filled with opportunities to learn various biotech skills. Your efforts will be focused on assisting and supporting laboratory functionalities. You will also have the opportunity to participate in other business functions. The successful candidate is passionate about biotechnology, keeps up to date with life science news and is looking for a career jumpstart.
This is a 6-month paid, in-lab position in NYC and applicants will be scheduled to work 20-29 hours per week.
What You’ll Do:
Assist scientists with various experiments
Organization and maintenance of lab equipment
Perform other support activities such as inventory checks, ordering, collection and distribution of new lab consumables and materials
Contribute to preparing weekly presentations of your work and results from in-lab experiments
Maintain daily accurate records of laboratory activities on electronic lab notebook
About You:
You have an Undergraduate Degree in biotechnology, biochemistry, molecular biology, microbiology, chemistry, etc.
You have wet lab experience either through classes or internships
You have strong pipetting skills
You are able to perform basic calculations for dilutions and concentrations
You are able to travel and work on-site in our lab.
You have strong verbal and written communication
You are able to deliver projects and assignments within timeframes and budgets
You are willing to learn and motivated to work independently
You have an “anything is possible” attitude and no ego
Compensation is market-competitive with an hourly rate of $18/hour.
Skills Required
- Undergraduate degree in biotechnology, biochemistry, molecular biology, microbiology, chemistry, or a related field
- Wet-lab experience through coursework or internships
- Strong pipetting skills
- Ability to perform basic dilution and concentration calculations
- Ability to travel and work onsite in the laboratory
