Position Overview
We are looking for a Director of R&D to lead our Investigations Unit, a strategic group developing mission-critical solutions that serve law enforcement and intelligence organizations globally. This unit builds powerful tools that enable digital evidence analysis and decision-making in complex investigative scenarios.
In this role, you will lead multiple development teams, drive technological excellence, and ensure delivery of scalable, secure, and robust cloud-based systems – with a strong emphasis on AWS infrastructure and modern development practices. This is a key leadership position reporting directly to the Guardian Director.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage several cross-functional development teams, building state-of-the-art products used globally in high-stakes investigations..
- Collaborate closely with Product, Architecture, DevOps, and QA to ensure high-quality and timely delivery.
- Take ownership of end-to-end product delivery, from planning through implementation to ongoing production support.
- Attract, hire, mentor, and retain top talent while fostering a strong engineering culture of ownership, innovation, and agility.
- Build and enforce engineering best practices, including clean code, testing standards, automation, CI/CD, and monitoring.
- Stay ahead of industry trends and continuously improve technology stack, architecture, and development methodologies.
- Operate in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, maintaining focus on outcomes and business impact.
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience in software development, with at least 5 years in a managerial role leading multiple engineering teams.
- Strong background in building complex backend systems, preferably in Java, .NET or similar modern stacks.
- Experience with microservices and distributed systems – with a focus on scale, availability, and security.
- Deep understanding of software engineering best practices, including Agile methodologies, CI/CD pipelines, and DevOps culture.
- Strong communication skills in English and Hebrew – both verbal and written.
- Experience working with cross-functional global teams – an advantage.
