Tasks and responsibilities
• Development of innovative coatings with optical and functional properties on glass surfaces (including transmission, reflection, gloss) based on silicon hybrid materials.
• Independent literature research, planning and hands-on execution of laboratory tests for formulation optimization and application (spin coating, printing processes, roller coating).
• Analysis and characterization of coatings (e.g. optical properties & parameters, layer thickness, adhesion, abrasion resistance), as well as documentation and presentation of results.
• Adaptation of technical conditions to customer-specific requirements and upscaling trials.
• Transfer of new products to production status, support for production and quality control in the event of quality deviations.
• Close cooperation with other R&D teams, production, quality assurance and external partners, as well as support for technical customer service.
• Preparation of reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
Technical qualifications/profile
• Completed degree (Dipl./M.Sc.) in chemistry, materials science, process engineering, physics (optics) or a comparable subject.
• Several years (3+) of practical experience in formulation development and synthesis (especially sol-gel, silicones/polysiloxane systems, preceramic polymers, metal oxide thin films from organometallic precursors/metal-organic decomposition inks/precursor-based, thermally converted coatings).
• Experience in the formulation of coating materials (organic/inorganic), thin-film technologies, printing processes and associated analytical methods.
• Confident use of laboratory and measuring equipment as well as MS Office and SAP.
• Very good written and spoken German and English skills.
