R&D Mechanical Engineer
The R&D center in Skien has two laboratories, 45 talented engineers and is considered a “Centre of Excellence” within the organization. The R&D center is responsible for inventing new technologies for the business and is facing large projects focused on the development of more environmentally friendly products.
Your responsibilities
- Design, and develop mechanical components for switchgear technology projects while utilizing CAD software to create detailed designs and technical drawings.
- Document design processes, specifications, and test results for future reference and continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with the prototype team to help prepare designs for assembly & testing, and assist in evaluating product functionality and performance.
- Support the design of switchgear components by creating and updating 3D models, while considering thermal, electrical and mechanical requirements throughout the design process.
- Contribute to the development and improvement of Medium Voltage Switchgear products by supporting design activities and exploring new ideas to meet customer and industry needs.
- Participate in design reviews, share feedback, and support the team in creating effective design solutions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment between mechanical design and overall project goals.
- Engage collaboratively with partners on R&D projects across global initiatives.
Preferred background
- Experience in 3D design systems such as SolidWorks
- BSc or higher in Mechanical Engineering or similar
- Experience with engineering design and simulation tools
- Working proficiency in English and Norwegian for effective workplace communication and reporting.
