Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled professional for the analytical lab in our Global R&D Center located at Pune. The candidate with M.Sc. / M. Tech. will support the testing and characterization of materials and formulations for advanced product development and research initiatives. This role requires close collaboration with R&D and Global Technology teams to provide critical insights that drive innovation, material performance, and data driven decision-making.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties & Responsibilities 

  • Conduct analytical testing, material characterization, and data interpretation to identify materials and evaluate their physical, thermal, and chemical properties.

  • Integrate analytical findings with data obtained from: 

    • Thermal techniques (DSC, TGA, DMA and Thermal Conductivity)

    • Chromatographic methods (GPC) and

    • Spectroscopic techniques (FTIR)

  • Prepare technical reports and effectively communicate findings to cross-functional teams and stakeholders.

  • Collaborate with R&D and Global Technology teams to support innovation.

  • Stay updated with the latest advancements in analytical and material characterization.

  • Actively contributes to knowledge sharing through internal technical bulletins and Magazines. 

  • Participate in internal expert group discussions to share analytical findings. 

  • Perform instrument troubleshooting, calibration, and preventive maintenance activities, and coordinate with vendors for service support when required.

  • Maintain accurate laboratory records and provide analytical reports with scientific interpretation to support research and development activities.

  • Ensure acceptable levels of housekeeping, 5S and safe work practices in the lab in accordance with Avient standards.

  • Demonstrate a high level of ownership, accountability, and collaboration while working with cross-functional teams.

  • Other duties as assigned. 

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • M.Sc. / M. Tech. in Polymer Science or Engineering with relevant experience.
  • Minimum 4 to 6 years of hands-on experience in analytical testing, characterization, and data interpretation of polymeric materials.
  • Proven ability to correlate and interpret data from multiple analytical techniques for comprehensive material characterization and problem-solving.

Competencies:

  • Working knowledge of statistical tools such as Minitab (or equivalent software) and Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and AI-enabled tools for data analysis, reporting, and presentation development.
  • Strong problem-solving, root-cause analysis, and data interpretation skills.
  • Ability to independently plan and execute analytical testing with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey data interpretation clearly to internal teams. 
  • Commitment to continuous learning and staying updated with industry advancements and best practices.


Physical Demands:

  • The requirements listed below are necessary to successfully perform the key responsibilities of this role.
  • This is an on-site role requiring regular presence at the Pune R&D Center, with a six-day work week as applicable. 
  • Requires standing, walking, sitting, and operating laboratory equipment for extended periods. 
  • Work is performed in laboratory and office environments with low to moderate noise levels.
