What we are looking for:

Nova seeks an R&D Application Metrology Scientist to serve as the technical owner of application development throughout the Product Life Cycle in the Dimensional Metrology Division.

As part of this role, you will identify customer process metrology challenges, define application and technology requirements, validate new solutions through Alpha and Beta programs, and ensure new products deliver superior customer value and competitive differentiation.

In this role, you will work closely with customers worldwide, Marketing, Product Managers, R&D, and global Applications teams to translate advanced semiconductor process challenges into application requirements, methodologies, and future product capabilities.

This is an exciting opportunity for a hands-on technical professional who combines deep metrology understanding, strong analytical capabilities, and customer-facing orientation.

Role Responsibilities

What will you be doing:

  • Build strong technical relationships with customers worldwide to understand current and future semiconductor process metrology challenges.
  • Identify application gaps and define future applications, hardware, and algorithm requirements to support new product development.
  • Develop innovative metrology methodologies, simulations, and application benefits to enable advanced in-line process control solutions.
  • Support product line development by translating customer process challenges into application requirements and technical specifications.
  • Collaborate with R&D to define and validate new algorithms, metrology methodologies, and future technology capabilities.
  • Define application test plans, lead Alpha evaluations and wafer demonstrations at headquarters, and support product verification activities.
  • Lead first-customer Beta evaluations, collect customer feedback, and drive continuous product and application improvements.
  • Define tool specifications, application performance monitors, and acceptance criteria to ensure product readiness.
  • Support Product Customer Management and Marketing with technical positioning, application content, demonstrations, and marketing collateral.
  • Train and provide technical guidance to global Field Application Engineers on new applications, methodologies, and best practices.
Requirements

Must Have requirements:

  • Master’s or Ph.D. degree in Physics, Materials Science, Electronics, Optics, or a related technical discipline.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in semiconductor metrology, process engineering, or advanced applications development.
  • Strong understanding of semiconductor manufacturing processes and process control.
  • Experience with advanced metrology technologies such as OCD, Raman, Scatterometry, Spectroscopy, or related measurement techniques.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with experience in data analysis.
  • Proven ability to work directly with customers and collaborate across R&D, Marketing, Product Management, and Applications.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and technical documentation skills.
  • Willingness to travel internationally.
