Job Summary:
The VP of Business Operations will play a pivotal role in ensuring the seamless and effective execution of all operational and infrastructure functions within a dynamic biotech company. With operations split between Cambridge, USA, and Cambridge, UK, you will be responsible for leading high-impact projects, while fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and innovation across both locations. This leader will be responsible for coordinating a broad set of infrastructure/functions (such as IT, Facilities, finance, legal) in partnership with Flagship pioneering counterparts. In addition, this leader will oversee growing project management and alliance management teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive Quotient’s project management and alliance management activities
- Oversight and coordination of all operational/infrastructure activities for Quotient (e.g., Facilities, Budgets, IT)
- Close coordination with central operations, finance, and people teams at Flagship Pioneering
- Lead a small team of high achievers, focused on operations, project management, and alliance management
- Execution of major special initiatives, with a strong eye to value delivery and change management
- Foster strong cross-functional collaboration with teams such as R&D, strategy, finance, and legal; Maintain strong working relationships with your counterparts inside the Flagship Pioneering organization; Rapidly establish credibly, trust, and respect across the organization to operate as the voice of strategic thinking in the company
- Lead with authenticity and a sense of urgency that inspires the team to communicate openly and thrive together.
Qualifications and Skills
- BS or related degree in life sciences required and PhD beneficial; Prior experience in Target Discovery and/or genetics will be viewed favorably
- 10+ Years of experience in operations within the life sciences industry (Startup/Biotech experience will be viewed favorably) with proven track record of effective stakeholder management
- Proven track record of building effective operations and processes in a complex environment and able to point to tangible successes project management and/or alliance management.
- Ability to communicate credibly, strategically, and clearly (in prose, slides, and verbally) with a broad range of stakeholders: Board, Partners, Investors, Internally, KOLs, and the Public
- Results-driven, high-performer with a highly collaborative style; able to influence and build consensus across all levels of the organization.
- Highly self-motivated with demonstrated agility to multitask, manage time, handle uncertainty, and work under pressure with limited oversight.
- Able to balance the importance of understanding the big picture with attention to the small details that matter.
