Job Summary
As a Member of Technical Staff, this role contributes to process and module integration for superconducting-qubit platforms across device, BEOL wiring, resonator, packaging, and cryogenic characterization domains. The position emphasizes hands-on execution, data-driven problem solving, and cross-functional collaboration to improve performance, yield, variability, and scalability.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Support integration of superconducting qubit hardware, including superconducting wiring, Josephson Junctions, resonators, BEOL modules, cryogenic interfaces, and advanced packaging.

  •  Develop and execute process integration flows for superconducting materials, junction formation, patterning, dielectric interfaces, and module interactions.

  • Improve low-loss superconducting interconnect and microwave structures for cryogenic operation, including ground planes, vias, crossovers, air bridges, feedlines, filters, and read-out resonators.

  • Analyze process and device performance drivers such as defectivity, variability, contamination, interface quality, dielectric loss, flux trapping, and thermalization.

  • Execute DOEs and analyze inline, physical, electrical, microwave, and cryogenic data to guide integration improvements.

  • Work cross-functionally with device, process, metrology, packaging, reliability, design enablement, and cryogenic-test teams to deliver integration milestones.

  •  Translate superconducting quantum requirements into manufacturable flows, design rules, materials specifications, characterization plans, and yield-learning actions.

  • Document process flows, assumptions, materials tradeoffs, characterization results, and technical learnings for scalable development and knowledge transfer.

Required Qualifications

  • Education: BS in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Physics, Applied Physics, or related field.

  • Years of Experience: 5+ years in semiconductor process, device, materials, superconducting device, or integration engineering.

  • Significant experience with superconducting wiring, superconducting materials, and cryogenic device or quantum-hardware integration.

  •  Experience with Josephson Junction fabrication, integration, testing, or characterization.

  • Experience with cryogenic characterization of superconducting devices, resonators, interconnect, or related structures.

  • Experience designing, integrating, or characterizing superconducting circuits, resonators, or microwave structures for qubit control/read-out.

  • Strong data analysis, problem-solving, debugging, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

  • Travel: ~10%.

Preferred Qualifications

  • MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Applied Physics, Materials Science, or related field.

  • Experience with superconducting films such as Al, Nb, NbN, TiN, Ta, or related low-loss materials.

  •  Experience with Josephson Junction process modules such as trilayers, shadow evaporation, oxidation control, lift-off, damascene, or subtractive patterning.

  • Familiarity with microwave engineering for superconducting qubits, including resonator Q, dielectric loss, impedance matching, crosstalk, filtering, and packaging parasitics.

  •  Experience with dilution refrigerator measurements, cryogenic probing, S-parameters, resonator extraction, critical-current testing, or related electrical test methods.

  • Experience with BEOL integration, superconducting interconnect, low-loss dielectrics, air bridges, TSVs, flip-chip, interposers, or cryogenic packaging.

  •  Familiarity with superconducting-qubit architectures such as transmon, fluxonium, tunable couplers, resonator read-out, or parametric amplification.

  • Experience with DOE, yield learning, variability modeling, root-cause analysis, SPC, or reliability assessment in R&D or manufacturing environments.
