Job Requirements
Quality Management System (QMS) Oversight:
- Develop, implement, and maintain the plants ISO9001 Quality Management System (QMS)
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, industry standards, and customer requirements.
- Create and implement the plants annual internal audit schedule.
- Conduct regular audits of the QMS and facilitate external audits from customers and regulatory bodies.
- Maintain a strong and active presence on the shop floor to monitor and support quality processes.
Quality Assurance and Control:
- Ensuring all purchased products and materials meet the required specifications
- Collaborate and build relationships with both 3rd party suppliers and inter-company suppliers.
- Establish and enforce quality assurance protocols to meet internal and external specifications.
- Supervise the inspection and testing processes for raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods.
- Analyse quality data to identify trends and implement corrective and improvement actions.
- Ensure all testing equipment is properly calibrated and functioning correctly
- Report all customer complaints to the Plant Manager within 24 hours of receipt
- Assist the engineering department with the introduction of new products, ensuring quality standards are met.
- Maintain up-to-date quality and inspection systems (PRODAT) and documentation for all processes and products and ensure that all production operators are adequately trained on these procedures.
- Log customer complaints in the CBOS system and ensure they are addressed and resolved promptly.
- Develop and oversee the Non-Conformance Report (NCR) process to identify, document, and address internal non-conformances.
Continuous Improvement:
- Lead initiatives focused on process improvement, waste reduction, and defect prevention.
- Collaborate with production and performance improvement to develop and implement Lean Manufacturing, 6S and Six Sigma methodologies.
- Drive the root cause analysis process and ensure timely resolution of both internal and external quality issues
Team Leadership and Development:
- Manage and mentor the quality team, fostering a culture of excellence and accountability.
- Develop personal objectives for individuals within the quality team and review progress on a regular basis.
- Provide training and development opportunities to enhance quality team capabilities.
- Conduct performance evaluations and support career development plans.
- Progress own personal development actions in alignment with personal development plan
- Communicate quality issues promptly to the Shift Managers, Operations Manager, and Plant Manager.
- Collaborate with the operations team to help them understand and address quality concerns effectively
Customer Relations:
- Serve as the main point of contact for customers and customer service team on quality-related matters.
- Address customer complaints and ensure effective resolution.
- Maintain strong relationships with customers by ensuring that their quality expectations are exceeded.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate and comprehensive quality records, including inspection reports, audit findings, and corrective actions.
- Prepare regular quality performance reports for senior and executive management.
- Ensure proper documentation of all quality-related processes and procedures.
- Record and report all key quality performance indicators regularly to management.
Health, Safety, and Environmental Compliance:
- Ensure that all quality operations comply with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Promote a safe work environment and support safety initiatives.
Change Management:
- Lead the planning, coordination, and execution of change management initiatives
- Develop and implement change management strategies that maximize employee adoption and minimise resistance.
- Collaborate with plant teams to ensure that changes are effectively communicated and integrated into daily operations.
- Monitor and evaluate the impact of changes on quality and productivity, adjusting as needed.
