Position Summary:


A key part of the FSQA Divisional Team responsible for the oversight and implementation of the Food Safety and Quality Management System to ensure the delivery of safe, quality products to our customers and consumers.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Food Safety and Quality Assurance subject matter expert (SME) to provide support to the business in the areas of:
  • HACCP / PRP / Preventative Controls
  • Environmental Monitoring Program
  • Risk Assessment / Root Cause Analysis
  • Food Defense (threat) and Vulnerability (fraud) Assessments
  • Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) benchmarked standards (e.g. BRC / SQF)
  • Food Assurance Standards (e.g. Halal, Organic, Gluten Free, etc.)
  • Quality Management Systems
  • Auditing (1st, 2nd and 3rd party)
  • Supplier Approval and Management program
  • Microbiological Examination and Chemical Analysis Testing Programs
  • Allergen Management Programs
  • Analyze data with a Statistical Process Control (SPC) mindset to identify quality Program trends and improvements
  • Strong food processing acumen
  • Organisational and document control expertise
  • High level cross-functional business unit involvement with Quality Assurance, Product Development, Supply Chain, Production.
  • Act as back up to other Quality Specialist team members.

REQUIRED SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum BSc. Degree in Food Science or related discipline.
  • Certification in at least one of the GFSI benchmarked standards.
  • HACCP Certification
  • 5 years of experience working in the food industry, preferably meat/protein industry.
  • Previous experience with implementing and managing a Food Safety and Quality Management System (FSQMS).
  • Working knowledge of food safety regulations (Canada and USA)

  • Ability to multitask and reprioritize when necessary to address immediate concerns.
  • Knowledge transfer aptitude.
  • Proficiency in Quality Management Systems hardware and software applications.
  • Proficient in English, both written and verbal.
