A Brief Overview
The Quality Specialist is responsible for the collection, entry, and integrity of clinical data and core measures. This role performs clinical rounds and chart reviews across the medical center and works closely with the clinical staff and physicians to ensure the accurate and complete documentation of quality process indicators. The Quality Specialist is also responsible for the administrative and scientific activities for clinical projects
including clinical screening, data compilation, and documentation of all eligible patient cases.

What you will do

  • Attends ongoing education as required for clinical database management.

  • Conducts comprehensive quality and patient safety studies, assessments, and evaluations of specific clinical activities for effectiveness

  • Conducts work independently and escalates system issues as necessary.

  • Contacts patient and/or families as appropriate for the database.

  • Ensures the accuracy of data abstraction utilizing inter-rater reliability methods and double check systems.

  • Ensures the timely submission of data.

  • Gathers and analyzes clinical and financial information from a variety of internal and external sources, relating
    to patient safety, utilization of resources, physician practice patterns, system problems, and other quality functions.

  • Identifies areas for streamlining and process improvements in the data processes.

  • Identifies trends, variances, deficiencies, and problems utilizing aggregated data and information.

  • Prepares reports and presentations for clinicians related to data collected utilizing desktop tools.

  • Provides expertise in interpreting chart abstraction guidelines and assists clinicians in understanding and
    applying those guidelines.

  • Responsible for the identification of inclusion/exclusion criteria for data collection
    Works with unit staff and physicians to achieve targeted compliance to established goals


Education Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a work-related discipline/field from an accredited college or university


Experience Qualifications

  • Three (3) years of progressively responsible and directly related work experience

  • Ability to foster effective working relationships and build consensus

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information

  • Ability to plan, organize, prioritize, work independently and meet deadlines

  • Ability to work effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization


Licenses and Certifications

  • RN - Registered Nurse - State Licensure And/Or Compact State Licensure

Base Pay Scale: Generally starting at $66.46 - $88.05 per hour

The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training. This pay scale is not a promise of a particular wage.
