Job Description:

The Quality Specialist will ensure that technically reliable products are fabricated, developed & manufactured with the appropriate quality standards to sustain customer loyalty. The candidate will also provide technical assistance in the field of product application, operations and maintenance in customer environments. The Quality Specialist will provide leadership towards quality consciousness throughout the organization and institute policies, procedures and systems necessary to ensure product quality utilizing lean manufacturing principles:

  • Review fabrication quality for our products to ensure they meet customer requirements and applicable standards.
  • Develop and implement programs to promote a “quality state of mind” in all personnel.
  • Control of costs associated with quality (internally through budget, scrap, and rework control, and externally through warranty expense control) to meet plan goals and objectives.
  • Maintain records necessary for the analysis of internal quality performance and external quality perception.
  • Maintain a continual improvement mode by monitoring processes for quality acceptability and work with facility personnel in developing solutions.
  • Collaborate with application engineering and field service personnel by assisting in diagnosing problems and problematic causes, assess responsibility, evaluate alternative solutions, determine the course of action that is in the best interest of the organization, and ensure proper implementation. Work with technical staff, sales, and management to make decisions on warranty credits. Work with customers to address problems and propose possible solutions.
  • Work with engineering to ensure that the design of all products meet the criteria for which it was designed and recommend improvements and/or modifications. Aid in the interpretation of customer specifications and coordinate any inspection procedures as required by customers. 
  • Act as a liaison between the manufacturing, engineering, and sales organizations to keep them informed of real or potential product quality issues.
  • Maintain the quality system and internal quality manual. Candidate will work in conjunction with other management personnel to oversee quality review actions, audits, and keep current on all quality operating procedures, which are consistent with standards that have been adopted.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Other Engineering, Operations Management or Quality Management 
  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a quality leader in a diverse and fast paced manufacturing environment. 
  • Previous experience in maintaining an ISO 9000 certification, or similar robust quality management system.
  • Experience with plastics processing, powder coating application, thin film application, fluoropolymers or metal coatings is a plus.
  • Familiarity with ASME pressure code requirements is helpful – but not required.

Skills Required
