Overview
Quality Operations Engineer plays a critical role in strengthening the organization’s quality management system by partnering closely with Facility Quality Engineers/Managers and cross-functional teams. This position focuses on driving effective root cause analysis, implementing corrective and preventive actions, supporting continuous improvement initiatives, and developing clear, compliant procedures that enhance operational performance across multiple fabrication and manufacturing sites.
Key Responsibilities
Root Cause Analysis & Corrective Actions
- Lead and facilitate structured root cause analysis (5 Why, Fishbone, FMEA, etc.) for quality issues across facilities.
- Collaborate with Facility Quality Engineers/Managers to ensure investigations are thorough, data-driven, and completed within required timelines.
- Develop, validate, and track corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) to ensure sustainable resolution of issues.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of implemented actions and escalate systemic or recurring issues as needed.
Continuous Improvement - Identify opportunities to improve product quality, process capability, and operational efficiency.
- Support or lead continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies.
- Analyze quality data and trends to proactively address potential risks.
- Promote a culture of quality and continuous improvement across all operational sites.
Procedure & Documentation Development - Write, revise, and standardize quality procedures, work instructions, and forms to ensure clarity, compliance, and alignment across facilities.
- Work with facility teams to ensure procedures accurately reflect current practices and regulatory requirements.
- Support training dept on rollout of new or updated procedures to ensure consistent adoption.
Quality System Support - Collaborate with and assist the Global Compliance Manager in maintaining compliance with internal standards and external regulatory requirements (e.g., ISO 9001 or industry-specific standards).
- Participate in internal audits and support facilities in preparing for external audits.
- Provide guidance and technical support to facility teams on quality tools, documentation, and best practices.
Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, or a related technical field (or equivalent experience).
- Experience in quality engineering, manufacturing quality, or process improvement.
- Strong knowledge of root cause analysis tools and CAPA processes.
- Experience with continuous improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma certification a plus).
- Excellent technical writing and documentation skills.
- Strong analytical, communication, and cross-functional collaboration abilities.
