POSITION SUMMARY:
The Quality Manager develops implements and maintains technical quality assurance and control systems and activities. Defines and specifies the implementation of standards, methods and procedures for inspecting, testing and evaluating the precision, accuracy and reliability of products. Participates in the review of new products to contribute quality requirements and considerations. Assists product support areas in gathering and analyzing data. Selects, develops and evaluates personnel to ensure efficient operation. Works with suppliers to ensure customer requirements are met and exceeded.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
- Establish and set goals for quality and metrics using the industry best practices with input from upper management. Assist with the development of business metrics.
- Establish plan to meet the quality goals and targets – Including facilitating cross functional teams to participate in the quality planning process.
- Lead the investigation of customer complaints and drive root cause analysis and corrective action.
- Ensure the company’s compliance to: ISO 9001, TL 9000 and support compliance to ISO 14001 Standards.
- Lead, supervise and implement systems for the evaluation of finished products to make sure that customer’s requirements have been met.
- Participate in recertification of product types per industry or customer requirements.
- Champion Lean and Continuous Improvement projects and strategy.
- Supervise Quality Engineering and Lead Auditor.
- Manage, communicate with and report issues to suppliers and contract manufacturers to ensure that customer and Lightera requirements are met.
- Administer new product introduction process for NWS and Fusion Splicing business units.
- Manage and facilitate Fusion Splicing quality metrics.
- Coordinate efforts with the Lightera Global Quality Leader
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor degree in technical field.
- MBA/Master’s degree preferred.
- Experience managing budgetary responsibilities of a Quality department.
- Excellent written, verbal, communication skills.
- Good organization skills with the ability to lead and manage multiple projects, priorities, and goal oriented.
- Computer skills: Microsoft Office applications.
- ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (or equivalent) required.

- Disposition of raw material that does not meet the standard requirements.
