The Quality Manager develops, implements and coordinates the company’s Quality Assurance (QA) program to prevent or eliminate defects in new or existing products and systems by performing the following duties personally or through subordinates.
This job position requires compliance with ITAR Regulations. Therefore, all employees working in this capacity must meet citizenship status. Per company Export Controls Policy and Procedures, the selected candidate must be a U.S. Citizen or a U.S. Permanent Resident.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Administer ISO 9001:2015 compliance and certification requirements.
- Supervise and manage a team of Quality Engineers (QEs) and Quality Inspectors (CQIs).
- Monitor (QEs) to ensure customer Return Material Authorizations (RMAs), internal quality Non-conformance Reporting (NCRs), and supplier quality corrective action requests (SCARs) are being addressed and administered in a timely manner.
- Communicate effectively and articulately with customers and auditors in a manner that represents the company positively and fairly for quality related issues.
- Review contracts and purchase orders to ensure company is compliant with all customer quality requirements.
- Ensure company’s Quality Management System (QMS) meets objectives and requirements set forth by key stakeholders.
- Develop QA department Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and metrics to monitor the health of the QMS.
- Ensure all QA department functions support quality issues and objectives throughout the company including environmental and regulatory compliance, engineering, new product development, operations, supply chain, and commercial.
- Manage reporting of KPIs and metrics on a daily basis in addition to required monthly and yearly reporting.
- Ensure the QA department complies to all required statutory, company and site requirements.
BACKGROUND SKILLS
- Deep understanding of root cause/counter measure (RCCM) tools and techniques to direct quality investigations (Value Stream Mapping, APQP, FMEA, FAI, DMAIC, 8D, Ishikawa, etc.)
- Experienced practitioner of ISO 9001:2015 practices, certification and audits.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience with statistical techniques and Six Sigma tools.
- Ability to identify, recruit and develop QA department talent.
- Comfortable handling communication with customers, suppliers, and company leaders.
- Ability to influence and partner with individuals of various educational and technical backgrounds.
- Fosters cross functional and cross-departmental problem solving and cooperation.
- Ability to adapt to changing working environments in a fast-paced manufacturing setting.
- Bias for action to drive results in both the short and long term with strong time and project management skills.
- Listens to the “Voice of the Customer” to meet their needs, both internal and external.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
QUALIFICATIONS
- B.S. in Engineering, Science, or related field
- Minimum 5 years of Quality management experience in a high-tech manufacturing environment. Experience in the optics/photonics industry preferred but not required.
- Working knowledge of semiconductor industry change control requirements
- Familiarity with defense industry AS9102 requirements a plus, but not required
- Prefer candidates with ASQ certifications
