The Quality Assurance / Quality Control Manager will manage the quality assurance and quality control function at the Plant to ensure production of high quality, safe, products that meet all customer, company and regulatory specifications.  You will provide leadership and guidance to your team to create a results-oriented, high performance culture that is driven to deliver continuous improvement in all these areas of responsibility.  As a key member of the plant leadership team, you will participate in developing the longer-term strategy to drive improvements for the site.

As a QA / QC Manager, your responsibilities will include:

  • Monitoring and approving products, investigating analytical discrepancies as required, in order to ensure that only products that meet company, customer and regulatory specifications are released.

  • Maintaining up to date customer requirement records and review and approve new or revised customer specifications to support the accurate approval and release of products.

  • Auditing plant quality system related to manufacturing, loading, sampling, shipping and receiving as well as external wash-stations, break-stations and warehouses to ensure that the quality systems meet all applicable customer, company and regulatory quality specifications. 

  • Management of the pest control program and contractors ensuring that the plant meets all applicable GMP, safety and quality requirements in this area.

  • Preparing the plant for, representing the plant during and following up on observations after, customer audits in order to meet customer requirements and maintain customer satisfaction.

  • Managing document control process in accordance with ISO standards

  • Determining disposition, root cause and corrective action in case of nonconforming product or other customer issues in order to ensure customer satisfaction and minimize recurring quality problems. Manage plant’s customer concerns.

  • Management of customer complaint process, including documentation, root cause analysis, customer responses, and complaint reduction goals.

  • Providing technical and professional assistance to Plant Operations, Sales, Technical Service, Customer Service and order Coordination in order to support the achievement of quality, safety, sales and production goals.

  • Lead personnel to deliver on annual quality objectives including FSSC 22000, HACCP, NonGMO, GMP and all food safety, food defense, & quality programs. The QA/QC Manager is the program owner for the following prerequisite programs: Pest control; personal hygiene and employee facilities; product recall; product information/consumer awareness.

  • Set strategy, KPIs, and deliverables for continuous improvement toward the journey to become an injury free workplace.

  • Create, execute, and report on action plans to drive out variances on a monthly basis.

The QA/QC Manager position is well-suited for you if you have:

  • Monitor performance and benchmark best practices to drive continuous improvement

  • Use metrics and customer feedback to quickly improve capabilities and service, and create shared value

  • Uses Lean Six sigma tools to improve quality and food safety management systems

  • Engages customers to fully understand expectations and requirements

  • Anticipates emerging trends in regulatory standards and implications for Ingredion

  • Generate a committed, efficient and team-oriented attitude/philosophy and performance within the area of Quality

Qualified candidates will have:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, Microbiology or a related Food Science field with 5-7 years’ experience in industrial food manufacturing. preferably in Corn Wet Milling.

  • Significant experience and knowledge of GMP, HACCP, Food Drug and Cosmetics Act and FDA regulations

  • Experience with NonGMO and FSSC 22000 quality systems

  • Working knowledge of analytical methodology (standard methods) and wet chemical analysis with skills in troubleshooting equipment, methods and procedures.

  • Experience in controlled documentation, operation of analytical equipment and sensory evaluation

  • Strong computer skills with knowledge in the use of MS Office, SAP and Lotus Notes

  • Significant experience and knowledge of GMP. HACCP, ISO, and food ingredient quality control systems.

  • Strong written, verbal communication and presentation skills. Must be able to convey information in a clear, focused, and concise manner.

  • Demonstrated experience working as part of a team.

  • Experience in planning, coordinating, and executing multiple projects simultaneously.  Significant demonstrated experience and knowledge of motivating, training, developing and managing people.

  • Demonstrated ability to challenge traditional methods of accomplishing tasks or work activities. Able to identify and implement creative, innovative solutions.

  • Proven ability to lead and facilitate in a team environment and build consensus in a positive manner with customers and team members.

  • Strong planning, organizing, and time management skills. Proficiency in setting priorities and executing multiple assignments in a timely and efficient manner.

  • Proficiency with applicable computer software (Excel, Word). Previous experience with SAP considered an asset.
