SUMMARY OF JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: 

The Quality Manager oversees all quality related issues while leading teams in problem solving techniques for customer complaints, corrective actions, and all other quality issues. Maintains Quality records and reports Quality status to management; maintains processes for Customer Complaint, Corrective Action, and MRB. Responsible for ISO9001/ IATF 16949 certifications and the Denver plant Quality System. The Quality Manager represents Quality interests in meetings, teams, and new product development projects. 

REPORTING TO: Global Director of Engineering

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Serves as Quality Management Representative for the organization by ensuring adherence to EQMS and relevant Quality Standards (IATF, ISO, etc.).
  • Maintains EQMS to ensure continuous compliance to standards and subsequent addendums as they are released by relevant certifying body.
  • Serves as key contact with customers on quality related issues and onsite customer audits.
  • Ensures adherence to APQP and PPAP process for new product introduction & change management
  • Manages Supplier Quality, including Supplier Corrective Actions and PPAP activities. Works with vendors to resolve product quality issues and implement countermeasures to resolve and mitigate re-occurrence.
  • Understand and utilize statistical based software and quality tools for data analysis and problem solving.
  • Leads cross functional teams to deliver robust internal and external problem-solving techniques for customer complaints, corrective, permanent and preventative actions and all other quality related issues to ensure no repeat occurrence
  • Leads ISO9001/ IATF16949/CE/UL/Type Approval compliance and associated 3rd party certification audits. Supports ISO14001 audit.
  • Delivers an annual Internal/External Audit Plan to ensure compliance to the quality system.
  • Supports focused continuous improvements to quality functions and processes.
  • Managerial responsibility for the Quality Assurance Dept. (Including training and development, goal deployment and monitoring of progress to targets and objectives).
  • Responsible for ensuring that product meets drawing specifications and customer expectations. Ensures customer requirements are known, communicated, and achieved.
  • Ensures Quality department representation in new product development teams.
  • Leads Monthly COPQ Analysis & Countermeasures at Monthly Business Reviews.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • IATF 16949:2016 Certified Lead Auditor
  • Strong knowledge of quality tools and concepts: FMEA’s, Control Plans, PPAP’s, and ISO9001/ IATF 16949/ISO14001/ UL/CEType Approval Requirements, 8D, 5Why and other RCCM tools.
  • Working knowledge statistical process control, methodology and interpretation of SPC
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate across the business / operations functions
  • Computer literate (MS Office, Minitab, JMP, Solid Works, etc.)
  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to make presentations before management groups.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or similar field. 
  • 5-10 years of relevant engineering experience; 5+ years' experience in a quality engineering.
  • 3-5 years supervisory experience.
  • IATF16949:2016 Lead Auditor Trained.
  • CQM, CQE certification preferred.

Physical, Mental/Visual Demands:

  • At least 30% of the time will be spent on the manufacturing floor.
  • Requires use of hands and arms 60% of the time.
  • Majority of time is spent walking or sitting.
  • Lifting requirements are generally less than 10 lbs. Occasionally, lifting could reach the company maximum of 50 lbs.
  • Close vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus are necessary to perform the job functions.
  • Peripheral vision is required for safety.

Work Environment:

  • Majority of the time is spent in a climate-controlled office or manufacturing environment.
  • Noise exposure is light to moderate.

  • Problem solving: The individual utilizes 8D techniques (5Y’s, IS/IS NOT, Ishikawa, Lessons Learnt, FMEA) to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner and gathers and analyzes information skillfully. A proven track record in driving toward root cause countermeasure(s).
  • Interpersonal Skills: The individual builds effective and sustainable professional relationships at all levels (Executive Level, Customers, Suppliers, Peers, Direct Reports, Indirect Reports). The employee exhibits a professional manner in dealing with others and works to maintain constructive working relationships.
  • Communication and Contact: The individual can communicate confidently at all levels (Executive Level, Customers, Suppliers, Peers, Direct Reports, Indirect Reports) both verbally and written. Maintaining an open mind and a willingness to listen and restructure their communications in response to other opinions/ideas
  • Planning/organizing: The individual prioritizes and plans work activities, uses time efficiently and develops realistic action plans and can flex plans to compensate with unforeseen issues.
  • Quality control: The individual demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness and monitors own work to ensure quality.
  • Adaptability: The individual adapts to changes in the work environment, manages competing demands and is able to deal with frequent change, delays or unexpected events.
  • Dependability: The individual is consistently at work and on time, follows instructions, responds to management direction and solicits feedback to improve performance.
  • Safety and security: The individual actively promotes and personally observes all safety procedures. The individual complies with Environmental, Safety, and hazardous Communications requirements.

Total Rewards

The compensation range for this position is $91,800.00 - $137,800.00, depending on experience. This position may be eligible for performance based bonus plan.
