The Job:   

As a Quality Engineer. you’ll be part of our Outdoor team working as an on-site employee. You will  drive manufacturing process improvement within the Business Segment and  will utilize statistical techniques and preventive action methods to evaluate, initiate, identify, and control sources of variation detrimental to quality, cost, and schedule targets. The scope of this role will include but is not limited to quality and cost data analysis, root cause analysis, corrective and preventive action investigations, process validations, and supplier quality integration tasks. The position is responsible for gathering and processing quality data and providing monthly reports both internally and externally for the company as required. The position will utilize this data to drive continuous improvement relative to Safety, Quality and Productivity.   You’ll get to:    

  • Support the Plant Quality Manager regarding the execution of the Quality Strategy around the Mission, Vision & Strategic Initiatives related to the manufacturing process improvement within the plant.
  • Leverage data analytics to identify opportunities for process improvement and cost reduction.
  • Leveraging the DMAIC methodology and the Lean Six- Sigma Tools; center the processes and reduce variation (Cpk); deliver favorable impact on CoPQ (scrap).
  • Improve the effectiveness of measuring systems and gages; ensure they are accurate with a good repeatability and reproducibility (GR&R); deploy error proof systems/techniques.
  • Foster predictive technologies capable to anticipate any process variation/deviation like SPC.
  • Drive Continuous Improvement activities to enhance the quality system, such as 5S, Kaizen/Lean methods, First Pass Yield, DPMO, Scrap % metrics
  • Install strong Quality process control; Leverage Quality Assurance procedures and Control Plan (IQC, IPQC and FQA, control of non-conforming materials); create/improve Standard Operating Procedures and deliver
  • Training to the operators regarding new improved standard work.
  • Address any process failure through formal Root Cause Analysis and Corrective Action Process (8D/5Ys);
  • develop, deploy, check effectiveness, assess Cpk before/after, closed-Loop Quality Control and validation.

  • Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Quality, Manufacturing or Engineering (Mechanical & Materials Engineering).
  • 5+ years in a Quality Engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with Quality Management Systems ISO 9001, AS9100, Quality Assurance Processes.
  • Product Development approval process APQP/PPAP.
  • Expertise in various Manufacturing Processes like Forging, Punching, Forming, Machining, Heat Treatment, Coating, Crimping, Assembly.
  • Project management skills demonstrated, solid analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Certified Lean Six-Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt preferred with proven experience with DMAIC, GR&R, Cpk/Cmk, SPC, D/PFMEA, Control Plan, Problem Solving 5Ys/8Ds; effective at performing data analysis using software like Excel, MiniTab.
