The Quality Engineer is responsible for developing, implementing, monitoring, and improving quality control of existing product lines. You will be responsible for creating quality standards and documentation, ensuring compliance to those standards, as well as identifying root cause issues and resolving them from concept design through production. You will work cross functionally to support the design and manufacturing of cooking products manufactured in our Baltimore facility.



Job Description

Responsibilities (80% Core Essential Functions)

  • Develop quality standards, metrics, and warranty goals for all parts, products, and manufacturing procedures
  • Monitor the entire product cycle and perform regular testing to ensure conformity with quality standards
  • Provide root cause analysis and technical support to the production team, sales, and service as required
  • Support Purchasing in the establishment of suppliers and ongoing supplier product quality
  • Initiate requests for corrective action and implementation as required
  • Issue and support engineering documentation including drawings, work instructions, quality alerts, and customer manuals
  • Drive continuous improvement projects related to improving quality and reliability
  • Support reliability and FMEA requirements during development as well as coordinate product reliability/life testing
  • Ensure products comply with existing safety, sanitation, and energy requirements as well as upcoming changes to state and federal regulations


Responsibilities (20% Business-specific functions)

  • Foster a collaborative culture of total quality management
  • Lead ongoing evaluation of warranty metrics and opportunities to improve product quality, reliability, and warranty reduction

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • This position has no direct reports.

Qualifications

Education and Work Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Quality or Engineering, with a minimum of five (5) years' experience in manufacturing operations (e.g., food & beverage, textiles, automotive, electronics, etc.).

COMPETENCIES

  • Ability to problem solve, lead, communicate, and execute engineering initiatives
  • Comfortable working with cross functional team including operations, purchasing, and technical service
  • In-depth understanding of metal fabrication processes, manufacturing, and aftermarket technical support
  • Familiarity with the construction of gas-fired and/or electrical cooking appliances.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is:

  • Must be able to stand or walk for duration of 2 hours.
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, lift, reach and twist to complete all job tasks.
  • Operate common office equipment, i.e. PC, phone, copier, printer, fax
  • Must be able to wear all required PPE (i.e., safety glasses, gloves, steel/composite toe safety shoes) when required

Working Conditions

  • Combination - industrial plant floor, and office.
  • Local travel up to 10%
  • Lifting up to 50lbs

Hours of Work

  • Monday – Friday 8:00 am – 5:00 pm, some flexibility in set hours allowable.
