Job Description:

The Quality Engineer is responsible for developing specifications, commissioning, and technical use of raw materials in the manufacturing process. The employee will also monitor, troubleshoot and improve the use of raw materials, by being closely engaged with our process and operations team, to understand the manufacturing needs. Cambria’s operations require a high level of analytical thinking, interpersonal communication and problem solving abilities. Quality Engineers will be required to work with a variety of skill sets and should be able to adapt to different working environments. This essential role plays a large part in the productivity of several departments and is a vital contributor to the overall success of the production and efficiency of the plant.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage the quality, specifications, commissioning and production related impacts of raw materials used in slab production.

  • Coordinate production simulations with non-conforming materials and determine appropriate designations by:

    • Analyzing data points to group like materials

    • Gathering material samples

    • Establishing simulations through the pilot plant

    • Coordinating approval with Process Control and Production

    • Documenting learnings to apply to future non conformances

  • Validate and adapt material specifications with new learnings and design launches

  • Investigate production issues related to raw materials and develop corrective actions

  • Commission new and alternative raw materials

  • Own the technical material blending process

  • Communicate and work interdepartmentally with internal and external upstream suppliers

  • Assist with supplier corrective actions

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Ability to read, and write English to effectively communicate with team

  • Intermediate computer skills (Microsoft Suite)

  • Detail oriented

  • Data driven and analytical

  • Ability to create simple solutions to complex problems

Minimum Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or other related field or discipline 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • 3+ years manufacturing experience

  • Understand and utilize statistics and control charts 

  • Critical thinking and troubleshooting skills 

Physical Requirements: 

  • Work at varying heights, including on the rooftop of the buildings

  • Lift up to 60 lbs.

  • Push/pull 100 lbs.

  • Stand on feet for long periods of time during a shift for up to 12 hours, with intermittent breaks

  • Wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) provided by Cambria 

  • Participate in daily stretch and flex exercises 

  • Work in an outdoor environment in all weather conditions 

  • Walk up and down steps multiple times throughout shift 

  • Bend over multiple times throughout shift
