Lexmark’s Product Delivery team is seeking a candidate to fill the role of Quality Engineer for global operations. The role’s primary focus is to support quality processes related to new product development and current product manufacturing. Success requires working collaboratively across multiple organizational functions and geographies. New product activity focuses on early involvement with development engineering to ensure proper design for manufacturing and quality techniques are utilized, while current product activity is focused on driving manufacturing continuous improvement, product improvements, and supply chain.

This position offers a wide range of exposure to various areas of the business and close collaboration within Product Delivery in addition to in-depth involvement in printer manufacturing.

Role responsibilities include:

  • Drive Design for Manufacturing and Design for Quality
  • Develop Quality Control Plans
  • Facilitate 8D problem solving and track to closure
  • Perform risk analysis
  • Initiate and manage product holds (product exited T1 factory)
  • Provide support for tier 1 factory and global rework activities
  • Create and document test methodologies
  • Help define and update Lexmark MFG standards and specs
  • Design and optimize test processes with Lexmark’s Manufacturing Enterprise Systems (Orion)
  • Define safe launch plans and metrics
  • Lead and support efforts to drive manufacturing consistency and flexibility
  • Collect and analyze data to measure processes
  • Utilize Lean and continuous improvement tools to drive quality improvements
  • Actively participate and/or lead cross functional meetings and activities
  • Review and consult on:
    • Assembly work instructions
    • Inspection of production level parts
    • Repair process optimization and process documentation
  • Provide training:
    • Print Quality assessment
    • Product Inspection definition and readiness
    • Key product quality characteristics
  • Collaboratively develop and manage quality assurance metrics
  • Identify factory quality trends and facilitate improvements
  • Drive standardization of factory quality reporting
  • Provide manufacturing quality and process oversight
  • Provide corrective action guidance and oversight
  • Collaborate with Service to understand field issues and connections to manufacturing
  • May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
  • Travel up to 20% including some international travel, including Mexico and Asia

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related technical field
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in Quality Engineering role
  • Ability to understand and measure production processes and complex manufacturing data
  • Must be a team player and understand motivating and leading a team without direct supervisory responsibility
  • Excellent problem solving skills
  • Demonstrated excellence in project management
  • Self-motivated to implement goals with minimal supervision
  • Strong communication skills including verbal, presentation, and interpersonal
  • Strong analytical, technical, analysis, and computer skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Experienced in creating documentation and standards
  • Lean, Continuous Improvement, and Kaizen experience preferred
