Position Summary

The Quality Engineer is responsible for supporting and maintaining the Quality Management System (QMS) in compliance with AS9100 and customer requirements within an aerospace electrical wiring harness manufacturing environment. This role focuses on product and process quality, continuous improvement, corrective actions, and regulatory compliance to applicable aerospace, and customer standards.

Key Responsibilities

· Support and maintain compliance with AS9100 and internal quality management system procedures

· Develop, review, and maintain quality documentation including control plans, inspection plans, work instructions, and procedures

· Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) using structured problem-solving tools (8D, 5-Why, Fishbone)

· Support internal, customer, and third-party audits, including preparation and follow-up actions

· Perform / Review and approve First Article Inspection (FAI) packages per AS9102 / PPAP requirements

· Oversee incoming, in-process, and final inspection activities for cable and wiring harness assemblies

· Interface with production, engineering, supply chain, and customers to resolve quality issues

· Support supplier quality activities including supplier corrective actions and performance monitoring

· Develop, analyze and report quality metrics, nonconformance trends, and drive continuous improvement initiatives

· Ensure compliance with customer specifications, drawings, process requirements, and regulatory standards

· Support MRB activities and disposition of nonconforming material

· Assist in training production personnel on quality requirements and procedures

Required Qualifications

· Must be a US Citizen due to contractual requirements

· Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Quality, Industrial Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience)

· Minimum of 5 years of Quality Engineering and regulatory compliance experience in an aerospace manufacturing environment

· Working knowledge of AS9100/ ISO 9001 standards aerospace requirements

· Knowledge of IPC J-STD-001 and IPC/WHMA-A-620 cable wiring harness standards

· Familiarity with PPAP and AS9102 First Article Inspection requirements

· Experience using root cause analysis and corrective action methodologies (8D, 5-Why, Fishbone)

· Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and specifications

· Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills

· Strong Microsoft Office suite skills: specifically Excel and PowerPoint and ability to create macros, pivot charts and other graphics

· Able to operate independently and with a sense of urgency and accountability

Preferred Qualifications

· Experience with electrical wiring harnesses, cable assemblies, or electro-mechanical assemblies 

· Lean, Six Sigma, or Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) credentials 

· IPC / J-STD-001 Trainer Certification

· Proficiency with manufacturing platforms such as Epicor and 1 Factory 

Physical & Work Environment

Manufacturing environment with exposure to production floor activities. Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods. Ability to occasionally lift-up to 35 lbs.
