Position Responsibilities:
- Ensure a safe work environment and compliance with all EHS policies and procedures is sustained.
- Ensure conformance to IATF 16949 quality management standards is sustained. Maintain process procedures and documentation as applicable. Identify and suggest changes to procedures as appropriate.
- Serve as the main point of contact for customer quality concerns and audits.
- Represent the quality department for customers, the assembly line, and continuous improvement projects for their respective commodities.
- Track and report customer KPIs (e.g., QZ, QI, RMU) and maintain systems such as BMW QWIN.
- Represent quality in audits (IATF, MAFACT, BMW Requalification, LRR, PLT).
- Conduct internal audits (IATF, ISO, MAFACT) and support external audits.
- Perform and document 8D analyses for customer complaints and update BMW QWIN accordingly.
- Monitor and improve internal quality metrics (scrap, rework, first-pass yield).
- Develop and maintain control plans and quality work instructions for containment, heat and finesse, end-of-line inspection, inspectors and craftsmen.
- Work with cross-functional teams to develop and update PFMEAs and control plans pertaining to quality issues, new changes to production environment
- Keep control plans and error-proofing files updated and perform regular audits of such.
- Work with the quality technician to validate error proofing is being performed correctly and all the poke-yokes are being tracked and tested regularly.
- Lead safe launch and validation activities for new and existing products.
- Achieve personnel, department, and plant goals.
- Develop and implement containment plans for changes, defects, and customer complaints.
- Perform root cause analysis for quality issues from customer complaints, assembly line, scrap, and supplier parts.
- Assess and verify the effectiveness of corrective actions with documented evidence.
- Lead and support continuous improvement projects to enhance team performance. Introduce or recommend changes to work methods aligned with MAFACT and MPS methodology.
- Evaluate statistical data and generate quality performance reports.
- Compile quality performance history and prepare summaries for management and Magna Purchasing.
- Monitor and track the status of annual validations and review submissions.
- Keep fast response, layered paynter, liaison action application, etc., updated.
- Complete assigned trainings in a timely fashion (before established deadlines).
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or 10+ years of related experience.
- 3+ years minimum quality related experience inside vehicle OEM plant.
- 2+ years experience IPSQ and OEM rework processes.
- Demonstrated knowledge of problem-solving and root cause analysis using tools such as 8D, 5Why, etc.
- Demonstrated knowledge of all quality concepts: PFMEA, SPC, and control plans.
- Demonstrated ability to conceptualize, coordinate, integrate internal data, and articulate concepts, ideas, and other issues relating to quality engineering.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc).
- Strong written and verbal communication and negotiation skills. Ability to present facts and recommendations effectively in oral and written form to the customer, suppliers, and employees at all levels of the organization.
- Effective at managing multiple priorities under tight deadlines in a fast paced, dynamic, fluid environment. Understands urgency and completes tasks timely, efficiently and accurately. Time management skills are essential.
- Able to work flexible hours to support 24/7 operation.
- Willing and able to travel – with or without notice.
- Owning responsibilities from cradle to grave. Is self-motivating, takes initiative, and works independently. Ability to thinking analytically and strategically and devise initiatives to move the organization forward.
- Ability to confront issues and resolve conflict while demonstrating diplomacy and tactfulness and controlling emotions.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Professional Quality Certification (CQE).
- Experience working in automotive seating industry.
- Experience in JIT environment.
- Experience researching and recommending new products and processes.
