Job Purpose :

The Quality Assurance Supervisor is responsible for leading and overseeing all quality assurance and quality control activities across the plant, ensuring that products, processes, and practices comply with internal standards, customer requirements, and regulatory obligations.

The role has a strong hands-on presence on the production floor, combined with responsibility for supervision, performance monitoring, training, reporting, and continuous improvement. The Quality Assurance Supervisor acts as a key quality authority on site and a primary escalation point for quality and safety issues.

Key Responsibilities

Quality Leadership & Supervision

Supervise and support day-to-day quality inspection and assurance activities on the plant floor

Provide clear direction, coaching, and feedback to Quality Inspectors / Technicians

Act as the first point of escalation for quality non-conformances and recurring issues

Promote a strong quality culture and “right first time” mindset across operations

Inspection, Testing & Product Release

Oversee and, where required, conduct in-process and final inspections on finished units

Ensure inspection and test activities are completed in line with procedures and specifications

Review and authorise test documentation, workbooks, and inspection records

Manage and review MRB areas daily, ensuring timely disposition and corrective actions

Ensure no non-conforming product is released from the facility

Quality Systems & Audits

Lead and participate in the internal audit programme, including preparation, execution, and follow-up

Support management reviews through accurate reporting and analysis of quality data

Maintain quality records, procedures, and documentation to required standards

Identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement within the quality system

Supplier & Subcontractor Quality

Oversee logging, investigation, and escalation of supplier quality issues

Liaise with the Quality Manager and suppliers to drive corrective and preventive actions

Monitor supplier performance and contribute to supplier quality assessments

Training, Coaching & Development

Deliver on-the-job quality training to address identified gaps or recurring issues

Support induction training for new employees where required

Provide ongoing coaching to production teams on quality standards, best practice, and safety

Ensure consistent understanding of quality requirements at cell and area level

Calibration & Equipment Control

Oversee the calibration system, ensuring all equipment is calibrated, maintained, and recorded correctly

Ensure calibration non-conformances are addressed and escalated appropriately

Coordinate maintenance-related quality and compliance issues

Reporting & Communication

Prepare and contribute to monthly quality performance reports, including Right First Time metrics

Attend and actively contribute to:

Daily production meetings

Engineering / Quality meetings

Report on:

Customer complaints

Supplier quality issues

Product and process-related quality concerns

Lead toolbox talks and quality briefings as required

Health & Safety

Support site Health & Safety objectives by identifying and escalating risks during audits and inspections

Ensure quality-related incidents, near misses, accidents, and corrective actions are recorded and closed

Promote safe working practices and compliance with H&S requirements

You will also be expected to carry out any additional duties that may be assigned to you by the company from time to time.

Skills Required

  • Supervisory experience leading quality inspection teams on a production floor
  • Experience performing in-process and final inspections and product release control
  • Experience managing MRB, non-conformance investigations, and corrective actions
  • Experience planning and conducting internal audits and supporting management reviews
  • Knowledge of calibration systems and equipment control processes
  • Experience delivering on-the-job training and coaching production staff on quality practices
  • Experience with supplier quality management, logging and escalation of supplier issues
  • Ability to prepare and analyse quality performance reports and Right First Time metrics
  • Understanding of health and safety requirements and incident/near-miss reporting
