Job Description
As a Quality Engineer (QE) for Assystem, you will be responsible for supporting Client Projects normally operating within a Matrix Multi Discipline Teams (MDTs) by the provision of quality management and control services;
The primary purpose is to provide evidence of the Client and supply-chain adherence to the contracted quality requirements within their respective Client Programmes and Projects;
The secondary purpose is to support Client Programmes in achieving adherence with the Project-wide quality arrangements, as well as ensuring that appropriate project-specific quality arrangements are established, as required in addition to ensuring the implementation of quality for all activities within the scope of the programme, for example, Manufacturing Inspection and Test (MIT) Plans; Life-time Quality Records; NCR Facilitation; Root Cause Analysis; Audits. This could be on Client Sites or at Sub-contractors base within the UK and overseas;
The post holder will work in close collaboration with all other project functions and the supply-chain to ensure that project quality is delivered consistently (safely, efficiently and right first time) compliant respecting Nuclear Safety as paramount at all times.
The role of the Quality Engineer (QE) - CFSI is to proactively manage Counterfeit, Fraudulent and Suspect Item (CFSI) arrangements in NNB by ensuring that there are adequate and appropriate arrangements implemented to manage the following aspects of CFSI in our Supply Chain:
CFSI Prevention
Ensure NNB has clear anti-CFSI requirements identified in our arrangements with awareness throughout the Project Teams. Ensure that Suppliers responsibilities have been defined and that Suppliers have implemented appropriate QMS arrangements to manage CFSI in their organisation with effective flow down to their Supply Chain.CFSI
Detection
Have oversight of the continuous process that is carried out during the manufacturing, delivery, construction, installation and commissioning phases of the project. Detection is achieved by using a combination of audit, surveillance and inspection carried out by suitably qualified and experienced personnel (SQEP) throughout the project life cycle
CFSI Resolution
Assist in the management of the resolution process activated when a CFSI event is detected either by the internal detection process or via an external third party advising of a potential CFSI event. Within 24 hours of the event notification an Event Alert should be raised. This action should trigger a series of internal and external stakeholder reviews that enable an informed decision to be made regarding the event. If the decision confirms a CFSI event has occurred CFSI investigation will commence
The QE CFSI role has both internal and external aspects with requirements to interface with stakeholders from NNB and our Supply Chain. Delivery of CFSI briefings will be a key feature of the role to build awareness of the risks and mitigations required.
The role includes supporting and conducting CFSI assessments with Suppliers to understand and measure their CFSI risk profile.
The QE CFSI will be directly involved in investigating potential CFSI issues and where CFSI is confirmed, to lead or support their resolution.
The QE CFSI will coordinate the analysis and trending of CFSI events and be the interface with the EDF SA ‘Lutte Contre la fraud’ team within the Direction Qualitie Industrial (DQI).
The QE CFSI will work in close collaboration with all other project functions (e.g. technical directorate, supply chain, etc.) and the supply chain to ensure that project quality is delivered consistently (safely, efficiently and right first time) compliant with the scope of work and quality arrangements.
Principal Accountabilities
General
- Support the development of CFSI arrangements for deployment across NNB
- Coach and train NNB quality Teams in CFSI
- Coach and train Supplier Teams in CFSI
- Conduct CFSI Assessments with Suppliers
- Investigate and report on potential CFSI issues
- Lead or support the resolution of confirmed CFSI
- Share learning & good practices across the supply chain
Primary accountability
- Provide regular CFSI reporting to Internal Stakeholders
- Maintenance of CFSI related information and data on NNB platforms
Qualifications
Essential
- Position requires academic background or understanding of Quality Management, including best practice for deployment by large, complex and contract-led organisations
- An understanding of Quality Assurance and Quality Control within Manufacturing, major projects or organisations
- Good understanding of the risks and impact of CFSI in complex manufacturing supply chains
- Demonstrable experience in Continuous Improvement with a sound knowledge of manufacturing improvement techniques
- Appetite for regular, solo international travelling
- The ability to influence and to provide constructive challenge which is accepted by others
- The ability to build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Able to support and implement practical solutions, whilst remaining open to the ideas of others
- Confident and articulate communicator, able to build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders, able to speak and present material to a large audience
- Able to interface between project teams and with supply chain organisations
- A team player who recognises how their position impacts and influences others
- Pro-active and flexible, being prepared to plan and work on own initiative
- Fluent in English language
- Excellent written English
- Excellent IT skills – MS Office (Excel, Word and PowerPoint)
- Ability to work effectively and consistently with Office 365 SharePoint and Teams collaboration platforms
Desirable
- First-hand experience in the nuclear sector or other safety critical industry
- Understanding of regulatory environment including the knowledge and understanding of nuclear site licence conditions
- Knowledge of QA/QC codes and standards
- Ability to speak French or European language is advantageous
- Knowledge of special manufacturing processes, such as Welding, Non-Destructive Testing (NDT)
Qualifications & Experience
Essential
- An HNC / HND qualification or degree in a relevant science or engineering subject, or equivalent qualification
- First-hand experience in ensuring compliance with international standards such as ISO 9001 or ISO 19443
Desirable
- Trained and experienced in the use of Positive Material Identification (PMI) techniques
- Working towards membership of the Chartered Quality Institute & Chartered Quality Professional
