Overview & Responsibilities

Ensure the adequate quality of all products including purchased product through review of customer specifications during and after quote stage, the development and maintenance of component plans, quality plans, procedures and specifications, performance of internal and supplier audits and the investigation and correction of causes for nonconformance. Developing supplier performance through facilitating supplier audits, risk analysis, and EEE's supplier corrective action program.

BACKGROUND and EXPERIENCE

  • A bachelor’s degree in engineering, preferably metallurgy or materials.

  • A minimum of 15 years’ manufacturing quality assurance or other equivalent work experience is required.

  • Quality Certification such as American Society for Quality (ASQ) CQE, CQA, CQT, CQM, CRE, Six Sigma Black Belt or NDE Level III (Various disciplines) is preferred. 

  • Broad knowledge of manufacturing processes, inspection methods and procedures, inspection equipment, nondestructive testing techniques and quality engineering including analytical skills.

  • Strong knowledge of industry product specifications (ASME, API, Etc) including design/manufacturing principles and operational processes.

  • Strong Knowledge of the following manufacturing processes - Welding / NDT / calibration / heat treating / coatings / sand-casting (foundry) processes / metallurgical properties / forging process.

  • Strong understanding with flow modeling (casting / foundry specific) and modeling software.

  • General knowledge of the principles and processes of quality initiatives.

  • Works under limited direction.

  • Plans and organizes projects and selects tools and methodologies.

  • Possesses working with casting experience, source inspection skills, auditing background, machining background, drawing reviews, and an understanding material (metals).

  • QA skills that include: SPC (Statistical Process Control)/ control of non-conformance / corrective action / root cause analysis / problem solving

  • Interacts with others requiring social skills and the ability to understand and influence using data and logic.

  • Cooperates with and works effectively with colleagues across the organization, and with vendors and alternate manufacturing facilities.

  • Travel up to 50%

SPECIFIC JOB RESPONSIBILITIES/COMPETENCIES

  • Reviews customer specifications as requested by Applications Engineering and provides Elliott comments and exceptions to quality, inspection, and testing related items.

  • Persuade involved parties concerning the need to revise requirements to match product quality needs based on Elliott capabilities and practices.

  • Auditing the performance of Elliott and supplier operations against established requirements and standards and obtaining corrective actions for deficiencies noted.

  • Analyzes supplier non-conformances and equipment failures for system related root causes and identifying required corrective actions.

  • Lead supplier quality system audits as assigned.

  • Meet with Supplier Management personnel to resolve significant quality issues.

  • Develop and implement quality plans for complex products (non-standard product involving significant engineering).

  • Plans, writes, and issues procedures to meet the requirements of ISO 9001, ASME, API - (QMS Procedures /Component Plans.

  • Evaluate purchase orders to determine final Quality Assurance requirements.

  • Review and approve all new and/or revised process specifications for quality related requirements.

  • Recommend drawing and process changes to improve quality and reduce costs.

  • Prepare technical reports regarding procedures and problems.

  • Participates in casting & forging design reviews and provides input on designing quality into the product.

  • The position ensures that all suppliers have adequate business management systems for the purpose of providing product that meets Elliott Company requirements.

  • Identify supplier risks and opportunities for improvement and work with suppliers on developmental opportunities and performance improvement initiatives.
