This is a remote position. Ideally the incumbent will work 4-10 hours per week. Open to evening/weekend or weekday schedule.
Collects, stores and data enters all current and retroactive data regarding specialized patient populations for various disease specific specialty databases, registries and research projects. Assists any or all of the following with patient follow-up, studies and projects: physicians, surgeons, clinical specialty program coordinator, product-line/department managers and quality coordinators.
Major Responsibilities:
- Completes the process for timely submission of data at appropriate intervals to the various disease specific specialty databases (i.e. STS, ACC, AHA ) and other registries as required for compliance with membership and professional standards. Coordinates training sessions to assure that individuals with access to databases can perform data entry and/or reporting functions accurately with respect to data definitions, security and confidentiality.
- Performs inter-rater reliability and other data quality measures to assure that the Medical Center's data meets the various database, registry and internal data quality standards.
- Participates in performance improvement activities by identifying appropriate data sources for studies, performing data base queries and transferring pertinent data sets to authorized individuals for statistical analysis.
- Collaborates with Information Services to facilitate the implementation and on-going technical maintenance of the information systems.
- Prepares and presents specified site data on a routine basis to Administration, site based Quality Council and specialty section and other clinical specialty teams as requested.
- Prepares individual clinical specialty data requests within specified timeline.
- Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with the Quality Management Team to improve patient outcomes including active participation on workgroups. Assists with clinical specialty module including training, data conversion and education with IS.
- Performs data collection relating to clinical specialty patients using appropriate data collection forms and computer software. Obtains and evaluates data from outpatient clinics, physician offices, and health care facilities for data collection for reporting. Maintains accurate data base records of clinical specialty patients as defined by nationally recognized societies.
- Maintains effective case finding techniques to assure that all appropriate clinical specialty cases are included in the database. Extrapolates, reviews, and extracts pertinent clinical data. Supports research with data collection and other activities as protocols necessitate.
- Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with surgeons, physicians, Data Coordinators and team members to facilitate accurate data collection for reporting.
Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required:
- Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which the team member practices.
Education Required:
- Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent knowledge) in Nursing.
Experience Required:
- Typically requires 5 years of experience in the area in which data coordination will be performed.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
- Knowledgeable and proficient in the use of software, data quality and database management.
- Understanding of basic statistical methods.
- Able to communicate and work well with surgeons, physicians, and other medical/nursing/ technical personnel.
- Must be able to work independently with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
- Must be able to spend approximately 50% in sedentary work.
- Exposed to a clinical-environment (including operating room and diagnostic or interventional lab) and a normal office environment.
- May be exposed to radiation and human blood and body fluids on an infrequent basis and must therefore wear protective apparel as needed.
- Operates all equipment necessary to perform the job.

Pay Range
$37.50 - $56.25
