Position Summary (Mission): This position is responsible for fulfilling the role of HMC’s Quality shield; this is a hands-on position. Ensure the quality of the parts produced meet all customer expectations. When non-conformances are found, lead teams to take corrective action quickly and effectively. Maintain the most recent interpretations of the quality system requirements and therefore ensure that documented processes meet the true interpretation of the quality management system standards. 

Essential Functions and Responsibilities: (Duties include but are not limited to) 

1. Responsible for process auditing to ensure product meets standards both in manufacturing and shipping. 

2. Resolve quality issues of capability, tolerance, and material related issues.

3. Maintain control plans throughout the facility.

4. Develop and submit PPAP documentation for new product launches to meet customer requirements. 

5. Analyze key metrics monthly to initiate continuous improvement actions.

6. Work on problem solving teams to improve key operating metrics.

7. Facilitate and promote use of appropriate problem-solving techniques for effective root cause analysis and successful corrective

action. 

8. Assist team members on production floor when necessary. The job requires knowledge of a wide variety of tools and machines used to inspect our product.

9. Ensure HMC’s readiness for all external quality audits.

10. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  

Education, Skills & Experience Required:

2. 3+ years of progressive experience in quality assurance is preferred, piston ring / engine knowledge preferred.

3. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 

4. Proficiency in MS Office including Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook. 

5. Programmable measurement equipment experience (i.e. CMM, Vision Systems)

6. Proven track record of driving continuous quality improvement in a manufacturing environment.

7. Previous audit experience in the automotive industry preferred. AIAG core tools +

8. This is a full-time position that requires excellent attendance with occasional overtime.

Skills Required

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Experience with programmable measurement equipment, such as CMM or vision systems
  • Proven track record of driving continuous quality improvement in a manufacturing environment
  • Excellent attendance and willingness to work occasional overtime
  • Three or more years of progressive quality assurance experience
  • Piston ring or engine knowledge
  • Previous audit experience in the automotive industry
  • Knowledge of AIAG Core Tools
