The Quality Control Manager ensures quality control processes and inspections are done according to best practices. Performs surveillance of deliveries from external suppliers, or in-house manufacturing, to meet set quality standards.
Manages Quality Control for the inspectors both locally and globally, while continuously improving resource efficiency and ensuring implementation of the best-practice way of working.
Key Accountabilities:
- Ensures and plans for evaluation on a quantitative and qualitative basis, in order to secure human and mechanical capability.
- Reviews and approves processes for inspection of inbound material to ensure that quality standards are met.
- Performs, or oversees, adequate inspection process is followed at suppliers, to ensure quality standards are met.
- Provides prompt and effective assistance to all departments, where knowledge of manufacturing and inspection is needed.
- Supervises manufacturing and assembly work, in order to prevent problems during production.
- Promotes a culture of personal and team safety, including others who may be affected by the company’s operational activities.
- Influences others, outside of own job area, regarding quality policies, practices and procedures.
- Engages with the business unit’s management on strategic, as well as tactical, quality-related matters, to ensure right and timely involvement.
- Manages the inspection team, to ensure collaboration and alignment with the manufacturing, purchasing and logistic teams.
- Single point of contact concerning project quality aspects.
- Presenting/aligning the quality concept with the client
- Carry out quality planning functions, assuring that supplier procedures, product, and data will comply with applicable specifications and customer expectations. Creates project related requirement specifications
- Schedule and direct supplier surveillance activities, ensuring compliance with applicable requirements, while working within budgetary constraints.
- Leading/performing/organizing quality audits/assessments of suppliers based on project requirements and standards
- Part of the negotiation team for all supplies
- Coaches and leads the supervision and inspection team
- Manage timely collection and distribution of inspection reports and product data, as required by code, standard, or specification.
- Evaluate inspection reports and assist in the development of remedial action plans to ensure conformance to specifications and standards.
- Leads the quality-kick-off-meetings at the fabricator´s premises
- Interpret and analyze supplier data and assist other departments (i.e. Engineering) in determining impact to quality.
- Checks and approves/ forward to respected personnel on quality related RFI´s, DCR´s, TQ’s? and NCR´s
- Interface with various internal and external personnel to investigate causes of non-conformances, minimize cost of quality, and strive for continuous improvement.
- Develop and assist others in the development of procedures and working instructions.
- Contribute to overall cost reduction/avoidance through participation in the internal corrective and preventive action system.
- Maintain a positive working relationship with all internal and external contacts.
- Project oriented: Is aware of the full project scope and ensures project timelines are kept.
- Responsible for planning and execution of quality assurance, quality control and inspection activities
- Coordinates with PT Team, suppliers and project team.
- Ensures supplier surveillance activities affecting product quality and customer satisfaction are effectively developed, controlled, monitored and reported
- Strong cooperation with sales, engineering and Manufacturing team and to ensure conformance of agreed quality requirements.
What you bring
- BS degree in an engineering field preferred or BS/BA degree with related experience, training or education.
- 2-5 years of experience in an Engineering or other technical environment preferred
- Technical knowledge base and self-motivation to handle unforeseen challenges
- Ability to analyze and resolve problems related to manufacturing and improving product quality
- Ability to read and understand drawings and engineering documents
- Ability to multi-task and connect related ideas and past experiences as they arise in different situations, and the flexibility to work in an organization with overlapping responsibilities.
- Demonstrated planning, organizational, interpersonal, problem-solving and multi-tasking skills in a team environment.
- Computer experience using MS office products. Excellent written and oral communication skills.
