Job Responsibilities:
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITIONS:
1) Follow and enforce all plant safety rules and policies.
2) Follow and comply with all operational procedures/policies as stated in the employee Environmental Health and Safety programs and conduct Team Safety Talks as required.
3) Understand and promote Magna's philosophies (Magna's Operational Principles, Corporate Constitution and Employee's Charter).
4) Audit quality paperwork for accuracy/completeness (daily)
5) Visually hi-lite when applicable on class "A" surfaces.
6) Perform and verify Dimensional & SPC inspection per requirements.
7) Inspect product to requirements defined on the end of line checklist and the quality inspection forms.
8) Communicate quality issues with product to Quality Team members and Area Team Leader & Supervisor.
9) Verify internal and external quality alert countermeasures are being followed.
10) Assist Quality Techs for any testing, inspection and samples preparation if needed
11) Assist in set up of rework and sort methods for quality concerns/containments.
12) Ensure containments and certification requirements are met in a timely manner.
13) Audit and report out on NCM material.
14) Assist in coordinating movement of NCM material to hold areas along with generating and placing NCM labels
15) Pass down to communicate shift concerns.
16) Interface with engineering and quality to resolve quality concerns.
17) Customer/Vendor travel for rework/sort etc..., or otherwise directed by supervisor
18) Maintain Quality alert folders and concern matrix using Kamtek Manufacturing System
19) Conduct daily audits for production parts and process in accordance with the layered process audit system
20) Inspect and audit finished product prior to shipment. Verify correct labeling and product certification.
21) Promote good housekeeping
22) Perform other duties as directed by Quality Supervisor/Manager
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
SKILL (Ability to do the job)
- Must possess working knowledge and understanding of quality systems, standards, and procedures
- Must have strong team-focused, interpersonal and leadership abilities
- Must have excellent communication skills
- Must be willing to work extended or flexible hours
- Must be willing to work in various locations within and outside the facility
- Must be able to pay good attention to detail
- Must possess good human relations, leadership skills, and a maturity of judgment
- Must have good organizational and problem-solving skills.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Some of the physical demands for this position include being able to lift up to a weight of 40 pounds and the ability to stand, sit, and walk for prolonged periods of time.
EQUIPMENT / TOOLS USED
Some of the equipment and tools used are a computer, printer, telephone, photocopier, iPad/Tablet, fax machine, PPE and an assortment of metrology tools.
KNOWLEDGE
EDUCATION:
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
TECHNICAL TRAINING: GD& T, Weld Standards, Manufacturing Practices, SPC
OTHER: Computer skills; proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Demonstrated proficiency in the use of precision measuring tools including tape measures, scales, calipers, etc.
- Attention to detail
- Commanding communication skills to escalate issues and Support production for correction actions
- Metal Finish & Casting experience a plus
- Proficient in Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook Express
- PDCA/8D/5 why knowledge a plus
WORK EXPERIENCE
WHAT TYPES? Quality auditing/engineering Experience preferred
Production leadership experience in the automotive manufacturing environment is a Plus
3 years' experience within Manufacturing environment
HOW MUCH? Minimum of 3 years (Overall experience in the automotive manufacturing field)
WHAT ADDITIONAL SKILLS OR ABILITIES WOULD BE HELPFUL FOR THE JOB?

- TS16949 Internal Auditor experience
- Emergency Response Training

The Quality Control Area Leader develops departmental strategies and leads team to achieve meeting and exceeding the quality goals and objectives put forth by the customers.
