multiple sectors, we are seeking an experienced and motivated Quality Assurance
Test Manager to lead our testing, verification, validation, and laboratory
operations.
This is a key management position responsible for ensuring the quality,
performance, reliability, and compliance of ePropelled's electric propulsion
products.
The successful candidate will lead a multidisciplinary team of engineers
and technicians, oversee verification and validation activities, manage
laboratory operations, and drive continuous improvement across testing and
quality assurance processes. Working closely with Engineering, Systems,
Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Certification teams, you will play a critical
role in delivering robust, certification-ready products to customers worldwide.
Leadership & Team Management
· Lead, mentor, develop, and manage a team of Test Engineers and
Technicians.
· Plan resource allocation and workload balancing across multiple projects
and programmes.
· Support employee development, performance management, and technical
training initiatives.
· Foster a culture of safety, accountability, engineering excellence, and
continuous improvement.
· Drive SQCDP (Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery, People) and 6S activities
within laboratory environments.
· Develop and maintain verification, durability and reliability strategies
for electric motors, inverters, power electronics, battery-integrated systems,
and complete propulsion solutions.
· Create and manage verification plans, test specifications, procedures,
compliance matrices, and requirements traceability documentation.
· Coordinate verification activities with Systems Engineering, Product
Development, Manufacturing, and Certification teams.
· Support certification programmes through the generation of verification
evidence and compliance artefacts.
· Participate in test readiness reviews, design reviews, and programme
milestone reviews.
· Oversee the safe and compliant operation of all internal testing
laboratories and facilities.
· Manage laboratory equipment, instrumentation, data acquisition systems,
and automated test rigs.
· Ensure calibration, maintenance, certification, and service schedules
are maintained.
· Lead pre-test assessments, safety reviews, and risk assessments for all
testing activities.
· Ensure compliance with company Health & Safety policies and industry
best practices.
· Coordinate external testing activities with specialist laboratories and
certification organisations.
Manage and oversee testing activities including:
· Motor performance and efficiency testing
· Dynamometer testing and performance mapping
· Thermal characterisation and validation
· Environmental qualification testing
· Vibration and durability testing
· EMC/EMI compliance testing
· Power quality assessments
· Endurance and lifecycle testing
· High-voltage system validation
· Integrated propulsion system verification
· Develop and implement quality assurance processes supporting product
development and release.
· Ensure products meet functional, reliability, durability, safety, and
regulatory requirements.
· Maintain compliance with AS9100, ISO 9001, and internal quality
management systems.
· Support internal audits, customer audits, supplier audits, and
certification assessments.
· Ensure all testing activities are properly documented and traceable.
· Ensure accurate and reliable data capture, storage, analysis, and
reporting.
· Lead failure investigations and root cause analysis activities.
· Drive corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) arising from testing
activities.
· Utilise recognised methodologies including:
o FMEA/FMECA
o Fault Tree Analysis
o Fishbone Analysis
o 5 Whys
o Statistical analysis techniques
· Present technical findings, risk assessments, and recommendations to
senior leadership.
· Work closely with Design Engineering, Systems Engineering,
Manufacturing, Procurement, and Programme Management teams.
· Liaise with suppliers, external test facilities, certification
authorities, and regulatory bodies.
· Support supplier quality investigations and qualification activities
where required.
· Act as a key technical interface during customer and regulatory audits.
· Drive improvements in:
o Test methodologies
o Laboratory infrastructure
o Automation systems
o Instrumentation capability
o Data acquisition processes
o Reporting standards
o Safety procedures
o Documentation practices
· Establish and maintain best practices across all verification and
validation activities.
· Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace
Engineering, or a related discipline.
· Minimum 5 years' experience in a quality assurance, verification,
validation, or test engineering role.
· Demonstrable experience testing electric motors, brushless DC motors
(BLDC), permanent magnet motors, inverters, ESCs, or high-voltage power
electronic systems.
· Previous experience managing technical teams within a laboratory or
engineering environment.
· Strong understanding of:
o Motor performance testing
o Torque and efficiency mapping
o Thermal analysis
o Power electronics validation
o Reliability and endurance testing
· Experience with:
o Data acquisition systems
o Instrumentation and sensors
o Automated test rigs
o Control systems
o Environmental chambers
· Experience working with high-voltage systems up to 1500VDC.
· Strong understanding of risk assessment and safe systems of work within
potentially hazardous environments.
· Proven experience conducting root cause investigations and implementing
corrective actions.
· Excellent technical reporting and presentation skills.
· Aerospace, eVTOL, UAV, defence, marine, automotive, motorsport, or
electric propulsion industry experience.
· Knowledge of aerospace certification and qualification standards
including:
· Experience operating within an AS9100-certified organisation.
· Experience managing EMC/EMI qualification programmes.
· Knowledge of battery systems and energy storage technologies.
· Experience with test automation software and scripting languages such as
Python, MATLAB, LabVIEW, or similar.
· Experience working within a Tier 1 aerospace or automotive supplier
environment.
· Strong leadership and people management skills.

Skills Required
