General Summary:

Responsible for ensuring all assigned areas of the site quality management system outlined below continuously meet establish requirements and associated responsibilities are completed timely and in accordance with requirements. The Quality Assurance Supervisor role has a major impact with the success of our “audit ready” status and requires a hands-on approach by interfacing with cross-functional teams to effectively manage these programs and continuously identify and implement improvement activities. 

Functions:

  • Manage and develop Quality team personnel. Hire new team members, provide direct oversight, guidance, and development support.
  • Support development of goals for direct reports based on cascaded goals and provide routine feedback through formal and informal mechanisms.
  • Assign daily and long-term job functions/projects to team members (in addition to regular job duties).
  • Ensure the daily records are complete, accurate and approved for finished product positive release. Track error rates, assist cross-functional team with RCA activities, and identify/implement process improvement steps.
  • Manage the site document control program to ensure active documents (SOP, JWI, OLP, etc.) are in place and accessible. Continuously monitor production and department areas for obsolete documentation usage.
  • Support communication for packaging defects to vendors, Shift Manager, and Operators and ensures that follow-ups to corrective actions are completed. This may entail working with corporate teams.
  • Lead cross-functional team with coordination of raw material and finished product holds including communication of network hold alerts. Create and manage rework/reinspection protocols including supervision, status tracking and training.
  • Support Quality Manager with general coordination of all audit scheduling and readiness of cross-functional site teams.
  • Ensure routine and specialized line audits and other inspection activities are being completed and documented correctly. Assist teams with related inspection training activities, provide/maintain sample standards and general test equipment support.
  • Directly assist the Quality Manager with QMR report preparation across the site team, including meeting coordination, record keeping and CAPA follow-up support.
  • As required by the site Quality Manager, provide general project support, department back-up, etc.
  • Oversee all aspects of Pest Control program.
  • Compile data for weekly, monthly, and KPI reports for the plant Management team.
  • Assist the plant Quality Engineer with data gathering and statistical & capability analyses, when needed. 
  • Review product trials documents (PTRs) with Corporate R&D and plant personnel prior to the execution of the PTR. Coordinates (PTRs) for new products or changes to existing products (i.e., batch recipes, corrugate, bottles, etc.). 
  • Lead the site Change Control program and ensure all Quality based requirements are communicated to the staff and executed in a timely manner.
  • Work with all HV Plant Departments to ensure that all finished goods are dispositioned and / or reworked in a timely manner.
  • Ensure that all quarantined or non-conforming product is adequately labelled and contained through final disposition.
  • Coordinate with site team, R&D, Corp. Quality, and all other applicable stakeholders for concession report creation and routing. Ensure specific release criteria is then carried out successfully. 
  • Partner with the site QE to ensure all TT documentation is complete and reviewed/approved by the team for approval.
  • Ensure the Quality Team adhere to safe handling of chemicals and maintains proper PPE.
  • Sets a positive example for peers and other team members.
  • Serve as back-up to the Quality Manager, as needed.
  • Regular and predictable attendance is required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Oversee administration of the Agile system.
  • Review and approve the ordering supplies and services.
  • Review monthly budget for spending.
  • Participate in & support Lean activities

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational/time management skills.
  • Good to excellent computer skills, preferably in Microsoft Word, Excel and Access.
  • Ability to effectively interact with employees at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to work for extended periods of time, under pressure while producing results.
  • Demonstration of appropriate training and experience in Quality manufacturing environments commensurate with the role requirements.
  • Experience with CI/LEAN programs ideal.
  • Ability to prioritize and shift work assignments in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong leadership abilities and skills as a team builder, coach, and mentor.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Math, Science or related field required.
  • Five years of related quality field experience in a manufacturing environment required.
  • Supervisory experience or, in lieu of supervisory experience, demonstrated experience leading projects and/or coordinating the work of others (minimum of 3 years).
  • Experience in a lab environment ideal with general knowledge of test equipment for chemical and packaging applications.
  • General understanding of ISO-based Quality Management Systems.
