Reporting to the Plant Manager, The Quality Assurance Manager is the central link between different departments of RB Operations as well as external entities (copackers, suppliers, external partners). The QA Manager is responsible for establishing, implementing, and continuously improving the Quality Management System (QMS) at the Chilliwack facility. This role is responsible for ensuring and expanding the food safety systems at the Chilliwack facility. This role will be supporting food safety in complete value chain of production and distribution of premix to copackers, and compliance with the relevant requirements; directly reporting any identified failures & hazards.
Furthermore, they will be responsible for the KPI´s, failure reporting, and the complete internal and external audit processes. The QA Manager at Chilliwack will own/lead the design, implementation, and governance of the document management system. Ensuring full compliance, audit readiness, and alignment with global standards, while enabling efficient, controlled, and scalable documentation processes across all functions. During the plant startup phase this role will lead the development of robust quality and food safety frameworks aligned with FSSC 22000 and ISO 22000 standards, ensuring compliance, operational excellence, and customer satisfaction. The QA Manager maintains a dotted line functional reporting relationship to HQ in Austria to ensure alignment with global standards, policies, and best practices.
QMS DEVELOPMENT AND PLANT STARTUP
Lead the design, development, and implementation of the full QMS for the Chilliwack facility.
Align processes with FSSC 22000, ISO 22000, HACCP & regulatory requirements (CFIA, Fraser Health, etc.).
Develop foundational quality systems and champion the document management system.
Develop, maintain, and update HACCP plans (for both solid and liquid premix operations).
Set up prerequisite programs (PRPs) including sanitation, pest control, and raw material / finished goods flow.
Support plant commissioning, validation, and qualification activities from Quality/food safety perspective.
Ensure full audit readiness prior to initial certification audits, serve as the food safety team leader.
Lead risk assessments, hazard analysis, and critical control point (CCP) validation/verification.
OPERATIONAL QULAITY ASSURANCE
Lead the design and implementation of the GMP systems for the new premix production plant.
Establish quality standards and controls for Raw materials, dosing processes, and finished goods.
Develop processes for both solid premix and liquid premix production lines.
Develop and oversee sampling, testing, and release procedures for product ON HOLD.
Manage non-conformance processes, root cause analysis, and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA).
Ensure calibration and validation of quality-related equipment and laboratory functions.
Collaborate with procurement to ensure approved supplier compliance is followed as per HQ standards.
Manage internal customer complaints, investigations, and corrective actions.
Support internal customer audits and function as the primary quality representative for external stakeholders.
Manage traceability systems including lot tracking, recall readiness, and mock recalls.
DOCUMENT MANAGEMENT SYSTEM OWNERSHIP
Own design, implementation, and governance of the document management system.
Define document hierarchy, numbering, workflow, and naming standards.
Ensure strict control of versioning, access, traceability, and archiving.
Oversee development and approval of SOP’s & work instructions.
Ensure point-of-use availability and control of documents; embed documentation discipline across operations.
Monitor and interpret changing regulatory requirements and ensure timely updates to SOP and specifications.
REGULATORY COMPLIANCE & FOOD SAFETY
Ensure compliance with all applicable local, provincial, and federal regulations related to quality management.
Maintain records and documentation required for regulatory compliance and audits.
Perform an internal mock audit to evaluate measures in place for compliance and traceability.
Ensure full compliance with U.S. regulatory requirements, including FDA regulations (21 CFR).
Lead development and implementation of Food Safety Plan (Hazard Analysis & Preventive Controls).
Maintain readiness for FDA inspections Customer and third-party audits (FSSC 22000 / GFSI standards) .
Oversee compliance related to labelling and allergen declaration with accordance with regional regulations.
Maintain compliance of sanitation and hygiene standards as set by HQ.
Qualifications8–12+ years QA leadership in food / nutraceutical / premix manufacturing.
Strong expertise in FSMA, GMP, HACCP, GFSI standards including CFIA and Fraser Health.
Knowledge and experience in areas like food defense, food fraud, risk assessments (TACCP/VACCP and FSMA International Adulteration rule – 21 CFR 121).
Experience in greenfield setup and QMS development in green field set up would be an asset.
Experience with solid & liquid processing environments.
Knowledge of food industry standards and exposure to best practices is a requirement.
Strong quality systems knowledge and execution capability in manufacturing environments.
Proven experience in managing QA/QC teams and copackers including risk management and mitigation.
Strong knowledge of quality systems (GMP, HACCP, RCA, CAPA, Food defense and food safety).
Excellent project management skills: ability to comprehensively plan and execute projects with a continuous improvement mindset.
Degree in Food Science / Food Technology or Chemical Engineering.
Degree in Biochemistry / Microbiology or Nutritional Science or related discipline.
Certified in HACCP / Preventive Controls Qualified Individual (PCQI).
Certification in FSMA / HARPC compliance an asset.
Auditor certification for FSSC 22000 / ISO 22000 / ISO 9001 / SQF / BRC.
Training in Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
Certification or training in Document Management Systems / Quality Systems.
Valid Class 5 Driver’s license.
Additional InformationThe expected annual base salary range for this position is $100,000 to $110,000 . The actual base salary for this position will depend on various factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s qualifications, skills, experience and work location. This position is also eligible for an annual bonus in accordance with the terms of Red Bull’s bonus plan.
