Quality (Assurance) Manager
Purpose/Scope
Ensures the development, implementation, and continual improvement of the AS9100/ISO 9001 certified Quality Management System along with other Aluminum Industry Audits. Work with personnel at all levels of the organization to ensure Kaiser Aluminum – Newark meets or exceeds customer expectations.
Reports to: Plant Manager
Duties and Responsibilities
Develop, implement, and seek continuous improvement of the Quality Management System (AS9100/ISO 9001).
- Report on the performance of the Quality Management System (QMS) to Kaiser-Newark Leadership Team.
- Ensure that the QMS meets the current AS9100/ISO 9001 requirements and applicable customer, statutory, and regulatory requirements.
- Oversee the Kaiser-Newark document and record control.
External Audit Responsibilities
- Ensure proper scheduling for annual, regulatory, customer external audits. Collaborate with internal stakeholders for external audits.
- Host external auditors and develop applicable internal meeting schedules along with review of documentation.
- Report out of external audit results, ensure proper corrective action communication and implementation.
Oversee, Schedule, and Perform internal quality audits per specified requirements.
- Document internal audit findings and any subsequent corrective actions.
- Maintain internal audit documentation.
- Train other internal auditors, as they are assigned and appropriate refresher trainings.
Evaluate Supplier Performance
- Monitor, measure, and evaluate supplier performance (supplier reviews) per specified requirements.
- Perform supplier audits, as necessary.
- Maintain supplier records.
Handle customer issues
- Be responsible for the completion of supplier surveys
- Report on customer audit results and continuous improvement opportunities
- Promptly notify applicable customers of any changes in the Management Representative, Leadership changes, Facility changes, Product changes, or Process changes – as necessary.
- Initiate implementation of corrective actions with Leadership Team and/or production departments.
- Continuous Improvement Actions, Activities, and Training Initiatives.
- Customer Quality requirements – review, accept, or reject.
- Identify potential non-conforming outputs (product, process, or service)
- Identify potential risks with processes.
- Overall on-site authority for AS9100
- Education: 2-year degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in Quality Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in quality management or a related field,
preferably in a manufacturing environment.
- Certifications: Certified Quality Manager (CQM) or similar certification is preferred.
Strong knowledge of ISO 9001 or similar Quality Management Systems is essential.
- Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, excellent leadership and communication
abilities, and a keen eye for detail.
