About This Role

At Apeel Sciences, we look to nature to help the global food system improve quality, reduce waste, and ensure an abundant future for our planet. We are seeking a Quality Assurance (QA) Manager who will work closely with our field specialists, engineers, and scientists to ensure the quality of Apeel’s global installation operations, with a primary focus on EMEA regional operations. You will collaborate with our teams to proactively identify areas of improvement and develop and implement processes that help advance our operations.  This position will be based in Valencia, Spain.

What You’ll Do

  • Be the expert in and maintain up-to-date knowledge of all applicable food and packing house regulations, including on food laws and regional food business regulations within the EMEA region
  • Collaborate closely with Integration teams to participate in equipment installation & qualification, with a focus on food safety, equipment quality, & document creation (e.g., Standard Operating Procedures, manufacturing batch records, cleaning and maintenance checklists, etc.)
  • Participate in design reviews for Apeel equipment, with a focus on sanitary design
  • Represent the Quality function in all Apeel operations in EMEA, including employee training, customer communications, audits/inspections, and other Apeel operations
  • Regularly visit Apeel installation sites to ensure compliance, obtain feedback from teammates in the field, and review records
  • Develop food safety policies for new facilities and operations, including sanitation, traceability, and other quality-related programs, including quality control testing
  • Develop scalable electronic workflows for document submittal, filing, and retention
  • Promptly and carefully review records to ensure compliance with applicable food safety regulations
  • Drive the creation of and updates to Standard Operating Procedures, Forms, and other controlled documents, in compliance with applicable regulations
  • Proactively identify areas for improvement at Apeel and develop and implement processes that help to advance our operations

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent industry experience
  • Experience working in a regulated industry, preferably food and/or pharmaceutical
  • Ability to travel up to 30% within Europe and other locations on occasion
  • Advanced proficiency in English and Spanish is required
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Attention-to-detail and commitment to quality
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Strong organization skills
  • Enthusiasm for process improvement & optimization
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, including Word, Power Point, and Excel
