Inside the RoleThe Manager Quality Assurance Machining is responsible for leading the Machining Operations Quality Teams:
- The position supports the HDEP machining and gear set machining operations as well as the NFD and Advanced Classic rear axle carrier assembly and drop line operation
- The position is responsible for the CMM operation, instrument repair and the gage inspection department
- The position ensures the early detection of quality issues and the structured problem-solving process in alignment with all relevant business partners and the global counterparts using state-of-the-art data analytics tools
- The position ensures conducting of all Quality Feedback Loops and the resulting improvement steps
- The position drives continuous improvement as well as system enhancements of supporting IT tools using QMOS and AI tools
- The position also serves as the primary interface to all powertrain plants regarding all shipped or received inhouse components
- This role manages both salaried and hourly personnel

- Managing all Quality Feedback Loops and permanent improvement of our Quality Feedback Loop processes. Introduce, ensure, and monitor standardized quality feedback loops in cooperation and fast information flow to the relevant process owner within Operations
- Coordination of the inhouse customer complaint process (Detroit internal and with sister plants) and intense communication with the business partners
- Assuring Quality on the shopfloor by executing the QFL2 process. Using the Quality Gates as well as the presence on the shopfloor to identify the Quality status and need for action
- Using state-of-the-art Quality tools to monitor process capability and technical product compliance
- In case of more complex quality issues structured problem solving across all QFLs in cooperation with different departments. Monitoring of established measures regarding their implementation and effectiveness using the PRT tool
- Coordination of department relevant inhouse campaign
- Acquisition and statistical analysis of quality as well as available process data for continuous fault trends and analyses of the Q-feedback loops
- Establishing DIGITAL QUALITY and improvement of Quality IT tools using QMOS and relevant AI tools. Leading team-specific use case definition and development
- Regular reporting of KPIs, metrics and top issues in plant cadence, committees and daily shopfloor meetings. Coordination of the Plant Quality Meeting with the Quality Assurance Assembly team
- Participate in global network meetings/workshops with colleagues at other Daimler Truck engine, transmission, and axle plants representing DDC
- Project leadership of quality projects locally and globally and leading of cross-functional projects (e.g. implementation projects Q-standards)
- Collaboration with Engineering and Manufacturing Engineering department to develop guidelines, standards and specifications for operations equipment and devices supporting our Quality business
- In case of industrialization projects or changed manufacturing equipment support planning and conducting the relevant tests for process releases (PPR) and awarding process release upon compliance with all requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality, or related field
- 6+ years of experience in Operations Quality, Operations, Manufacturing Engineering and/or Product Engineering
- Strong expertise in manufacturing processes, especially machining
- Strong technical expertise in powertrain systems
- Experience managing teams with both hourly and salaried personnel
- High level of verbal and written communication skills
- Analytical and structured problem-solving mindset
- Master's degree in Engineering, Quality, or related field
- Shainin or comparable certification
- Familiarity with QMOS, PALANTIR and other quality-related IT tools
- German language proficiency (preferred, not required)
