Position offers a starting salary range of $104,000 – $133,000 USD

Pay offered dependent on knowledge, skills, and experience.

What You Drive At DTNA:

  • Lead problem solving and recurrence prevention efforts for Top 10 Development Meeting topics with Design Engineering and cross functional teams using structured problem-solving (SPS) tools and methods (5-Why, Fishbone, Six Sigma, Shainin, etc.). 

  • Develop and manage SPS timeline to closure of Top 10 Recall topics, adhering to defined targets.  

  • Facilitate and manage the Top 10 Development (D) executive meeting forums – invites, meeting facilitation, meeting documentation, etc.  

  • Conduct Top 10D topic reviews with senior level management to help summarize the content and support escalations when necessary.  

  • Analyze data from various sources, including warranty reports, customer complaints, field input, virtual technicians, etc.   

  • Provide proper statistical data analysis for team lead in following a structured problem-solving approach.  

  • Assist with training in the Engineering Department in structured problem solving and mentoring others.  

  • Support reports on performance to targets including KPI management for the Sr VP of Engineering Mission Control Board (MCB) or Top10 Q/D Committees.  

  • Provide regular input for areas of improvement within the Top 10 D processes.  

  • Assist in Strategic projects such as Issue Management to partner with PVE, VLE, PE Engineering Departments in new system engineering approach to track and manage New Development Product issues and proactively address before SOP. 

Knowledge You Should Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical, electrical, industrial, mechatronic, or systems engineering (or equivalent), with 5-7 years' experience in leading structured problem-solving role or 10 years relevant experiences in lieu of degree.  

  • At least 5 years of relevant DTNA experience in product development (i.e. very familiar with processes and products, and regulated industries) is required. 

  • Either Shainin or Six Sigma Blackbelt experience in the auto or trucking industry.   

  • Practical experience leading cross-functional teams in structured problem-solving methods (Fishbone, 5-Why, Six Sigma, Shainin, 8D, etc.) leading both development or Recall field technical topics through, problem definition, containment, root cause, long term corrective actions, to full closure with reoccurrence prevention.    Excellent communication, facilitation and stakeholder management skills across functions and levels.  

  • Strong skills to advise on the use of statistical sampling, testing methods (i.e. MSA, DOE, etc.) and statistical quantifications of product improvement (i.e. SPC, MSA, Multi-Variate, Weibull, etc.) to drive risk reduction actions to closure.  

  • Comfort operating in ambiguity and changes within large, matrixed organizations.  

  • Self-motivated and results-oriented required.

  • Strong engineering fundamentals with demonstrated experience in design risk management for complex mechanical or mechatronic systems.  

  • Ability to work on-site at DTNA Portland.
