Inside the Role
The quality management team (QXD) plays a key role in providing quality support for assembly line functions in Detroit. The assembly quality engineer position is highly dynamic and has a balance of working closely with production cross functions and interpreting data in an efficient manner. This role is for the afternoon shift primarily supporting the transmission assembly line.Posting Information

Position offers a starting salary range of $81,000 - $104,000 USD
Pay offered dependent on knowledge, skills, and experience

What you Drive:
- Coordinates quality objectives with other departments
- Drives continuous improvement by developing and implementing error and mistake proofing
- Keeps management informed of progress, developments and pending problems
- Drive issues to closure through the various quality feedback loops
- Analyzes assembly process data to look for trends or possible upcoming concerns
- Works with Advanced Quality Tools (i.e., PFMEAs) to ensure a quality assembly process
- Analyzes SPC data and works with manufacturing engineering to make process improvements
- Regular print evaluation utilizing GD&T and coordinated effort with CMM operations
- Facilitate others in the executions of quality improvement activities
- Works in a plant environment, with hands-on troubleshooting of assembly quality issues and concerns
Knowledge You Should Bring
- BS/BA STEM Education
- 1 – 2 Years of continuous improvement
- 1 – 2 Years of production and operations experience
- 1 – 2 Years of detailed data analysis, GD&T
- 1 – 2 Years of problem solving & root cause analysis
- 1 – 2 Years of PFMEA and PPAP experience
- Product knowledge of powertrain
- Working knowledge of powertrain aggregates and professional experience in manufacturing
- Capable to work independently to solve problems of moderate complexity
- Ability to provide regular training and coaching to team members
Exceptional Candidates Might Have
- 2+ Years of project management
- Masters degree in STEM background
- Shanin or equivalent advanced problem solving experience
- Palantir familiarity
