Job Summary: Responsible for inspecting, testing, and ensuring the quality of trailer components and finished products at various stages of production. The ideal candidate will work closely with production teams to ensure that manufacturing processes meet all internal and external quality standards. This role requires a strong understanding of quality control procedures, attention to detail, and the ability to troubleshoot, train personnel and resolve issues effectively. 

 

Essential Functions 

  • Inspect raw materials, parts, in-process and finished trailers to ensure compliance with work orders, design specifications and quality standards. Inspections may become paravesical observations, use of Go/No Go gauges, use of measuring tapes, or use of other tools and gauges.
  • Ensure adherence to industry standards, regulatory requirements, and company quality policies. R
  • Provide confirmation of repairs for identified quality defects.
  • Record inspection data and maintain accurate documentation for all quality checks performed.
  • Prepare and submit quality reports and non-conformance documentation when issues arise.
  • Compile and present quality performance metrics.
  • Collect, compile, and analyze data to identify trends, generate insights, and inform decision-making processes.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of Quality Standards, inspection criteria and quality system processes.
  • Collaborate with counterparts at other sites to develop and replicate ‘Best Practices’.
  • Work closely with the Warranty team to review, troubleshoot and address quality issues found by the customer.
  • Identify quality issues and collaborate with Production, Engineering and Purchasing teams to investigate root causes, make recommendations for solutions and implement corrective actions.
  • Provide feedback and input to the Production team to support the identification and implementation of ‘Error Proofing’  to ensure quality in-station.
  • Provide feedback and input to the Production team to support the development and maintenance of their Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Work Instructions to ensure quality and correct identified issues.
  • Provide support, guidance and training for operators and production personnel on quality-related matters.
  • Recommend improvements to production processes and quality procedures to minimize defects and improve performance.
  • Assist in audits, inspections, and quality certifications to maintain compliance with quality standard sand procedures.
  • Work with Production, Engineering and Purchasing teams in the quality validation of product and process changes.

Qualifications and Requirements: 

  • High School Diploma or GED required or other equivalent and relevant demonstrated skills and experience. Certification, education, or experience with Quality processes in a manufacturing setting preferred.
  • Knowledge of trailer manufacturing processes including Fabrication, Welding, Coating & Assembly.
  • Ability to be energetic and focused while working in a team-oriented environment. 
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a high level of attention to detail.
  • Must be able to read work orders and thoroughly complete paperwork/documents.
  • Occasional travel to support benchmarking and improvement initiatives at other sites.
  • Overtime may be required as needed. 

Physical Requirements: 

  • Must be able to climb up and down ladders and scaffolding on a regular basis.
  • Must be able to work both indoors and outdoors throughout the year.
  • Minimal lifting upto51pounds, using atwo-handedlift is required in this position.
  • Visual acuity needed for visual inspection of trailers and materials.
  • Occasional exposure to dust and chemicals.
  • Must be able to be on feet ffor extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to wear all required PPE for the position, including but not limited to safety glasses, hearing protection, hard hat, and steel-toe footwear.

Skills Required

  • High school diploma or GED, or equivalent relevant demonstrated skills and experience
  • Ability to read work orders and complete paperwork and documentation thoroughly
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented, fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
  • Ability to inspect trailers and materials visually and use inspection tools such as Go/No-Go gauges and measuring tapes
  • Ability to climb ladders and scaffolding, work indoors and outdoors, stand for extended periods, and lift up to 51 pounds
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment, including safety glasses, hearing protection, hard hat, and steel-toe footwear
  • Quality-process certification, education, or experience in a manufacturing setting
  • Knowledge of trailer manufacturing processes, including fabrication, welding, coating, and assembly
  • Availability for occasional travel to support benchmarking and improvement initiatives at other sites
  • Availability to work overtime as needed
