The Role

General Description

The Quality Assurance Analyst works with management and team members to enhance and maintain NorthWinds Technology products. Individual’s workload includes, creating and executing test plans, working with development staff to correct issues prior to a production release and training business users on new or modified applications.  This role will continuously and consistently evaluate work and determines if further testing is needed to meet/exceed customer expectations.  The Quality Assurance Analyst will provide professional and superior test plans, customer support, and product testing to ensure the highest level of customer satisfaction, retention, and growth.  The Quality Assurance Analyst is professional and projects an energetic attitude. Individual is dependable and possesses strong organization, reasoning, and analytical skills with excellent follow through.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Has conceptual knowledge of fundamental theories, principles, and practices within the development lifecycle. Participate in Agile team, planning, and status meetings.
  • Works under clearly defined guidelines and requirements.
  • Uses existing procedures to solve routine or standard problems.
  • Receives instruction, guidance and direction from higher level roles.
  • Create and execute test plans to ensure that applications meet business requirements and system goals, fulfill end-user requirements and identify existing or potential issues.
  • Track issues identified while executing test plans.
  • Communicate test progress, test results and other relevant information to project stakeholders and management.
  • Act as a liaison between development staff and customers to provide customer service.
  • Will interact with clients for various testing processes
  • Will complete and/or participate in demos with client groups
  • Will have a basic understanding of Quality Assurance (QA) Toolsets and processes
  • Requires basic skill set and proficiency within the field.

  • Test design mindset: can translate requirements into clear, thorough test cases (positive, negative, boundary, and exploratory scenarios).
  • Automation mindset: looks for repeatable checks to automate, understands automation’s strengths/limits, and can read/write basic scripts within a test framework.
  • High attention to detail: validates acceptance criteria, UI behavior, data, and workflow outcomes; catches issues before release.
  • Defect reporting rigor: writes clear, reproducible bugs with expected vs. actual results, steps, screenshots/logs as available, and impact/risk notes.
  • Analytical problem-solver: isolates root cause signals, narrows variables, and partners with others to verify fixes efficiently.
  • Risk-based thinking: prioritizes testing around customer impact, critical paths, and regression risk—especially when time is limited.
  • Strong time management and follow-through: manages multiple assignments, communicates status early, and meets deadlines.
  • Data and environment discipline: comfortable setting up test data, using sandboxes/environments appropriately, and keeping test evidence organized.
  • CI/CD and tooling awareness: comfortable running automated suites in pipelines, reviewing results, and helping keep automated tests reliable and maintainable.
  • Clear communicator: provides concise test results, asks good questions, and gives actionable feedback to developers/analysts and stakeholders.
  • Collaborative team mindset: works well across roles, is proactive about clarifying requirements, and supports release readiness.
  • Curious and adaptable: enjoys finding edge cases, learning the domain and tools (e.g., Salesforce, Copado, and test automation frameworks), and adjusting to changing requirements.
  • Salesforce, Copado Automated Testing, and SQL experience a plus.

Education/Experience/Personal Requirements

  • Associate Degree in computer science or relate field or a minimum of 1-3 years of relevant work experience.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Basic understanding of query language
  • Ability to function as a team player and work independently
  • Ability to focus on deadlines and deliverables

  • Visual Acuity. The employee is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading.
