You would manage a small quality engineering team (10-15 direct reports) as well as be accountable for the quality of mission critical applications. Responsibilities include:
  • Partner with Product Owner, Development, Enterprise Architecture, and Infrastructure (NIT) organizations providing thought leadership in testing of mission critical applications.
  • Ability to work on multiple tasks while coaching others simultaneously to produce high quality deliverables.
  • Influences the team with strong working knowledge of test automation and performance testing techniques with the ability to understand implementation value and complexities.
  • Responsible for providing guidance and leadership to software test engineers, including hands on testing, and troubleshooting of complex applications.
  • Coaches all team members on quality culture from vision to implementation.
  • Demonstrates strong innovation, influencing, negotiating skills, and strategic agility.
  • Collaborate with other members of a cross-disciplinary team operating within the agile SAFE framework to consistently deliver Product improvements according to the guidelines.

Managerial responsibilities of the job include:
  • Writing and Conducting performance appraisals for the team members
  • Identifying training needs in collaboration with other leadership
  • Mentoring and coaching team members
  • Recruiting and on/off boarding
  • In conjunction with architecture and other leaders, ensure consistency in usage of development best practices, standards, tools, and processes.

Your Background
The QE Manager will lead a team of quality engineers and mission critical applications. The position is for a leader who has hands-on software engineering as well as leadership experience. The candidate will be responsible for delivering quality in applications based on the established FRB system architecture and will be involved in the entire delivery life cycle supporting Agile SAFE teams.
  • Minimum 8-10 of experience with Java/J2EE distributed application and strong understanding of object-oriented programming.
  • Strong knowledge of testing tools like LoadRunner, JMeter, Selenium, RestAssured, UFT, HP ALM among others in preferred.
  • Experience with Messaging (MQ/JMS) based Integration applications.
  • Strong knowledge of SQL, stored procedures (PL/SQL) and database fundamentals.
  • Experience and understanding of CI/CD pipelines and DevSecOps concepts.
  • Experience and understanding of Cloud based architecture and technology.
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, or equivalent combination of directly related education and/or work experience.
  • Typically requires at least 6 years in a formal leadership role or relevant informal leadership experiences. 2+ years of leadership experience with software engineering, quality assurance, site reliability engineering, or performance engineering is preferred.
  • Experience implementing a comprehensive technical and performance testing background, including troubleshooting performance testing observations and issues.
  • Experience working in systems, tracking, and coordinating multiple efforts at any given time for functional/regression and performance testing.
  • Ability to guide & coach other test engineers in functional/regression testing, performance testing, and automated testing best practices.
  • Strong ability to help a team in all facets of the delivery cycle from analysis of requirements, design, development through implementation.
  • Builds strong partnerships with business, operations, infrastructure, and other key stakeholder groups.
  • Strong ability to analyze risks, issues, and other data in supporting teams reaching actionable decisions.
  • Strong understanding of supporting mission critical applications ensuring excellent customer support.
  • Ability to provide performance feedback and career planning with staff.

The expected starting salary range for this position is between $184,000 and $217,700 annually in addition to annual performance-based discretionary bonuses. Final salary and offer will be determined based on the applicant's relevant experience, skills, internal equity, and alignment with geographic and other market data.
