The Role

DESCRIPTION OF ROLE
IDEAL ELECTRIC COMPANY, a 121-year-old, independent American manufacturer of high-power, specialty electric motors, generators, power systems and controls seeks an experienced Quality, Compliance and Assurance (QCA) Engineer who is a highly organized self-starter capable of working in a fast-paced, multi-discipline team environment with the ability to manage competing priorities to achieve company goals while upholding a culture of ethics, integrity, and excellence in everything we do. This position is based in our facility in Mansfield, Ohio reporting to the QCA/EHS Manager, plays a key role throughout our Product lifecycle through design, supply, manufacture, and customer application for both manufactured products and aftermarket services.
The QCA Engineer will be charged with being an active Quality presence on the Ideal Electric production floor and assisting the Quality, Compliance and Assurance Manager in ensuring Quality processes are fully integrated.
This position requires access or potential access to Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) which is Not Releasable to Foreign Nationals (NOFORN) data. To meet the NOFORN requirement, candidates will be required to provide proof of US Citizenship, attest that they do not have dual citizenship, and are otherwise eligible to access and manage regulated information.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACTIVITIES

  • Be an active Quality presence on the production floor.
  • Review Supplier Material Certifications and Quality documentation for compliance.
  • Address Quality issues with suppliers when needed.
  • Lead Internal Corrective Action and Warranty Claim investigations.
  • Assist in the development of work instructions and procedures when needed.
  • Assist in executing internal audits and ensuring closure of resulting corrective actions.
  • Creation, implementation, and management of Quality Control plans, including verification of proper use of inspection forms.
  • Maintaining Quality records (i.e. Inspection Reports, Test Reports, Oven Charts, Material Test Reports)
  • Participate in Customer Audits when needed.
  • Support continuous improvement activities that enhance internal quality systems and processes.
  • Assist with quality training as needed.
  • Assist with internal calibration program.
  • Additional duties to be assigned as required.
KEY QUALIFICATIONS
  • Must have the ability to work full time at the Ideal Electric Mansfield, Ohio facility. This is not a remote work position.
  • A minimum of 5 years work experience in another Quality Engineering role.
  • Prior experience working in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with ISO 9001:2015 Requirements is required.
  • Current ISO 9001:2015 Lead Auditor Certification is desired, but not required.
  • Experience with ISO 17025: 2017 Requirements desired, but not required.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND WORK HOURS
  • Daily minimum of 8 hours. Weekly 40 hour minimum
  • Must be willing to work flexible hours and overtime, and occasional weekends, holidays, and nights
  • This position operates in a professional office setting, and in the manufacturing areas of the facility
  • This role frequently uses standard office equipment such as computers, copiers/printers, and phones

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee:

  • is regularly required to talk, hear, read, and write and/or type
  • is required to stand, sit, walk, push, pull, bend, crouch, crawl, kneel, and balance 
  • may be required to ascend and work from ladders, platforms, scaffolding, and stairs, and to lift and/or move weights of up to 50 pounds unassisted  
  • is occasionally required climb heights of up to 20 feet 
  • must be able to exhibit specific vision abilities required by this job which include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
