- Develop, implement, and maintain the project-specific QA/QC Plan covering mechanical scopes of work.
- Conduct regular field inspections of mechanical installations (CRAC/CRAH units, chillers, piping, ductwork, controls) to verify compliance with construction documents, manufacturer specifications, and applicable codes (NEC, NFPA, ASHRAE, local AHJ requirements).
- Review and approve subcontractor QC plans, inspection test plans (ITPs), and method statements prior to work commencing.
- Coordinate and witness factory acceptance testing (FAT), site acceptance testing (SAT), start-up, and commissioning activities alongside the commissioning agent (Cx) and engineering teams.
- Track and manage the punch list process from rough-in through final closeout, ensuring timely resolution of deficiencies.
- Maintain detailed QA/QC documentation, including inspection reports, non-conformance reports (NCRs), corrective action logs, and test data, using project management/QC software.
- Lead or participate in weekly QA/QC meetings with subcontractors, engineers, owner's representatives, and commissioning teams.
- Verify proper installation and labeling of electrical and mechanical equipment in accordance with project standards and data center industry best practices
- 5+ years of QA/QC experience in commercial construction, with direct experience in electrical and/or mechanical systems.
- Prior experience on data center, mission-critical, industrial, or similarly complex MEP-intensive projects strongly preferred.
- Working knowledge of NEC, NFPA 70E/72, ASHRAE standards, and local building/electrical/mechanical codes.
- Familiarity with commissioning processes (Level 1–5) for electrical and mechanical systems.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical one-lines, mechanical schematics, P&IDs, and construction drawings.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to produce clear, detailed inspection and non-conformance reports.
- Proficiency with QA/QC or project management software (e.g., Procore, PlanGrid, BIM 360) and Microsoft Office.
Preferred:
- Journeyman or Master Electrician license, or equivalent mechanical trade credential/experience.
- OSHA 30 certification.
- Certified Quality Manager/Inspector credentials (e.g., CQM, CQI, NICET) a plus.
- Experience working with hyperscale or colocation data center clients.
